Default What can't they see?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
We just received a notice that we now have to set a blackberry password and the timeout is 5 minutes. If we don't set it, it will be set for us.

So, we were just talking about it, how much of the device can be seen by the BES Admin? Are all the device settings exposed? IS the model number of the device available? BIS email, is that available to the BES admin? I understand PIN messages just go through RIM, but what about data from third party apps and web site traffic?

Not trying to defeat anything just curious.

Regards-Michael G.

Anything they want to see: emails, sms, text, web browsing, additional applications, and very likely PIN. Someone else will have to tell me otherwise.

how much of the device can be seen by the BES Admin?
All of it.

Are all the device settings exposed?
Yes.

IS the model number of the device available?
Yes.

BIS email, is that available to the BES admin?
Sometimes.

I understand PIN messages just go through RIM
But they're still on the device, and can be logged on the BES. A BES admin can see the content of your PIN and SMS messages.

but what about data from third party apps and web site traffic?
Depends on the app... but web traffic can be logged at the BES as well.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I expect everything but passwordkeeper info and your device password are visible to IT. Anyway, best if you assume it is so.
