Hi, does anyone run their BES with a remote SQL database across the WAN?

We've got some of our BlackBerry users located on remote mail servers and want to try to place the BES as close to those users as possible.

We're hoping to just use one SQL server as we want to keep the management simple and the licenses all on one configuration database, etc.

We're running Domino with BES 4.1.4

We've done it temporarily ... we have a large customer with 20+ BES across the world sharing a single config database. It generally works for them (with Domino too), but latency is extremely low (and network redundancy high). Can't say I'd recommend it, but I would try setting up SQL on that remote connection and fire up query analyzer via a WAN connection and throw some queries at it to see how it responds. It won't be accurate as far as the application goes, but you'll have a starting point.
