Default Thrown in the fire, anyone have a bucket?

Never touched a Blackberry in my life, now my company decided we should have 1 blackberry, and BES.

I managed to get BES installed correctly thanks to a tip on this forum, so I was hoping someone could help me with a few questions I have.

1. Does redirector still need to run on the laptop even though we have the BES now? Seems pointless, but as soon as I stopped it, I haven't gotten any messages forwarded.

2. I have enabled PIM (et al) syncro, yet by the users name it says disabled, why?

3. If I right click the user, and choose properties, I get an error about specifying a com port. What is with that?

Make sure the BES server has the device's PIN number assigned to the user. Directly sync the two, that almost always gets the BB to talk to the BES. Open the manager, plug the BB in via USB, double click on the user. It should prompt you to generate a key.
If not, delete user and re-add, making sure to clear all data. Add the user, clear stats or whatever, plug in the BB, and open the user's properties. It will prompt to generate an encryption key.

It had the device's pin. It communicated. But it still required redirector to be running on the desktop to redirect mail. It also still disabled wireless reconcilliation, and wireless pim sync.

Redirector does NOT need to be running. Stop running it. On the handheld, go into your Service Books and remove all of the ones that are listed as Desktop []. Uninstall BlackBerry Desktop Manager and reinstall it using the option for BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Open up BDM and then let it do an enterpise activation.

That *should* fix you.

You are a god amongst men, sir. It finally works, and works well.
My last problem is still that it still shows wireless calendar sync disabled. Wireless reconcilliation is working though.

If you go into Calendar then to Options, what does it say for Wireless Synchronization? If No, can you change it from Yes. If so, go to your PIM settings in BDM and see if it is checked there with BlackBerry Wireless selected as the option (the other 3 should be unchecked).

(Calendar Options on the device does not have a setting of wireless syncronization)

The individual device PIM Sync settings checked say; (all are set to bidirectional in the tabs below)

Wireless Sync Enabled for This User
Enable User for Automatic Wireless Backup
Enable Wireless Device Management

In BB manager properties, PIM Sync is all set to bi-directional.

Did I miss somewhere I have to enable it?
