Default S/MIME Package and BES 4.0 Questions

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone, first post!

I have been tasked to stand up a BES for a small number of users who will be transitioning from a BES 3.6.x environment. Here is what my setup will be (in theory)

Exchange 5.5 on Win2K server

BES 4.0 on Win2K3 server

My biggest concern is this... All users currently use a CAC Sled to encrypt messages via S/MIME. Is there any reason that 4.0 would not be compatible with the S/MIME package? Would I need to upgrade the Desktop SW as well as the Device firmware? All devices are currently running 3.6.x firmware with the 1.5.x S/MIME. I would like to figure this out before I order the BES software.

Searching didn't turn up anything concrete, I would greatly appreciate any advise given. Please let me know if anyone needs any more specific info. Thanks in advance!

That setup should work... just remember that SSP 1.5 will not work on 4.0 handheld or DTM software. i.e. Once you start upgrading the handhelds to 4.0 software you will need SSP 4.0 as well.
