Default Multiple Exchange accounts on one server?

Please Login to Remove!

I have one Exchange 2003 server that hosts mail for 5 different domain names. Technically, they are all under ONE forest/domain but there are different OU's that have e-mail addresses for different domains. The server accepts mail for all of them and external DNS is set accordingly.

1) Can I use one BES to route messages to users in each of the OU's?

2) Is it possible for ONE Blackberry device to accept/send mail for different accounts on that Exchange server? (Some users have an account/mailbox in one OU as well as another)

3) Can BES be installed on THAT server or does it need to be on it's own server?

I need to make a decision on this soon so any timely advice/answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Im pretty sure that you can only tie the BB device to 1 mailbox. At least I have not been able to get it to do 2.

Depending on how many people are using the BB's and where the mail servers are you hsould be able o get away with 1 BB server. I have 3 exchange servers that are very well connected spread across the US and I only have 1 BB server. I have BB users on all 3 exchange servers. It also doens't matter what OU the users are in. The BB server doens't seem to care about the OUs.

Wonderful! Thanks for the info. Concering the blackberry server itself though... can the software be installed on the same server as the Exchange server or must it exist as it's own server? Thanks again!

The BES should not be installed on the same server as Exchange. If possible use a dedicated machine, else another machine which is not running Exchange.

1) The BES is limited only by an AD Forest. So long as its something underneath that top-level Forest, you will be fine - so long as the AD can communicate through all of its trees and domains and whatnot.

2) Nope.

3) As mentioned above, it should not be installed on the same server as the Exchange server. I'm not sure if there are technical reasons behind it, but considering a bare Exchange server takes up quite the memory resources as does BES, it'd probably be cheaper just to get its own minimal server (for that many users) than stick a load of memory in a single server.
