Default message receiving stops but sending is fine

BES v4.1.2.20 for GroupWise on Windows 2003 Standard Edition SP1
GroupWise v6.5.7 on NetWare 6.5 SP5

I've had a number of instances where email receiving suddenly stops. Sending works fine. When I send to myself, the message appears immediately in GroupWise but not on the BlackBerry.

Things go back to normal after about 2 hours after the BES server is rebooted which is a pain during business hours.

Anyone have this problem?

Thanks.

Mike

Looks like this is addressed by Service Pack 3...

Delays in email message delivery after a restart of the BlackBerry Controller service or BlackBerry Messaging Agent

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Doc ID : KB11014
Last Modified : 2007-07-30
Document Type : Support

Print this page

Environment
BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.1 and 4.1 Service Pack 2 (4.1.2)
Novell® GroupWise®
SDR104671

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Problem
When restarting the BlackBerry Controller or the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (which restarts the BlackBerry Messaging Agent), BlackBerry device users may notice a long delay before email message flow is restored.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Resolution
Resolution 1

Before you restart the BlackBerry Controller or the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, run the following Structured Query Language (SQL) script. Run the script at least once a week as a maintenance measure.

update MbMailSync set DeliveryStatus = 3 where (DATEDIFF(Day,ModifyDate,GETDATE()) >= 7 AND DeliveryStatus <> 0)

Important: Restarting certain BlackBerry Enterprise Server services will delay email message delivery to BlackBerry devices. For more information, see KB04789.

Resolution 2

Upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1 Service Pack 3 (4.1.3).

The new SP3 HF4 finally fixed it (SDR 144163).
