Default The Configuration Database

The server that houses the configuration database needs more space added to it. How crictical is the configuration database?
Can this server be brought down in the evening without effecting a mass number of blackberry users or services....?

Ideally, you want to should down the BES if the SQL server is going to unavailable for a while. On some version of BES will continue to function for a while if the db is unavailable while some will only run for 15 minutes.

BES will not start if the db is unavailable on BES startup.

BES will squawk and errors will fly about not being able to reach sql; but mail will continue to flow; just don't stop the services or they won't start back up.
