Default Backing up MSDE Database

Please Login to Remove!

Me again!!! Yes I know am a pain!!

Tomorrow night is out Upgrade and just looking on the best way to backup our database on the BES.

I can see that the person previously to me has been able to do this as can see some old .BESMgmt.bak files.

But how the hell do I do it?

I use MSDE admin.
MSDE Admin

Well worth the $20 US in my opinion.

You don't need third-party software if you're comfortable entering some SQL statements at a sql command prompt.

osql -E -Q " backup database <BlackBerry_Configuration_Database_name> to disk = 'C:\BESMgmt.bak' "

from the command prompt on the BES

or DbaMgr2k is a freebie written by an MS MVP.

In case you cared ...

English translation:

osql - actual command
-E - use windows authentication
-Q execute the following query
" backup database <BlackBerry_Configuration_Database_name> to disk = 'C:\BESMgmt.bak' "

osql is mighty nice as long as you treat it with the same respect you treat rm -rf / or del /y/q/s C:\
