Question BES 4.1 Remote management working ....... but

Please Login to Remove!

I keep getting prompted to log in as the bes account

It message says that there is no mapi profile configured, so i am guessing i need to type in the BES details?.

When i type in BES mailbox and exchange server, I then get prompted to login in to it (I am logged in to my pc with erm err.. my account and that does not have rights to the BES account).

I type in the bes user name and password and everything works fine, i am able to administer the server without logging in to it.

Is there anyway I can give the remote admin facility to our service desk without given them the bes user name and password?

Thanks in advance.

Absolutely; you can use role-based administration. Search for it here and in the BTSC

Hi hdawg,

Thanks for your reply.

Here is what I did:

1. Logged in to the BES, clicked on Blackberry Domain on the left and selected the "Role Administration" on the right.

2. Clicked on rim_db_admin_sr_helpdesk and added a test account (which is local admin on the sql/bes server)

3. Installed Blackberry manager on another machine (logged in as test account). Installs fine but when you try and start it you get an error there is no is no map profile configured.

Here I assume it must be wanted the BES credentials?

this is where i get confused.

I looked on the RIM site but could only find an explanation of the different roles

I checked with RIM to see if there was a way to keep the MAPI profile warning from popping up, and was told no. However, if you clear the warning prompt, Blackberry Manager opens up fine, as long as it is started under an account assigned an administrative role.
