Default SQL 2005 DB Mirroring, does BES support it?

Please Login to Remove!

We're trying to put together some semblence of DR/HA with BES 4.1 without going 3rd party (unless we have to) due to the rumor of 5.0 having DR built in.

Does BES 4.1 natively understand SQL 2005 Database Mirroring in the event of a primary DB server going down? If it does then I'll setup a SQL DB Server in our two datacenters with mirroring and also a quasi-BES cluster which simply starts/stops the services on a warm standby BES server and call it a day for now.
BES 4.1.4
Exchange 2003 SP2

1.2k BES/Blackberry Users

RIM hasn't officially said yes or no to this, but I can't see why it wouldn't work. Publisher / Subscription HA works; so should this. I would follow the directions in the DR guide and you should have no problem. I'd also recommend setting up a DNS alias in your BES Configuration Manager to point to your SQL instance. Then if in the event you have to move your SQL db, you don't need to touch BES, just modify the DNS entry to point to the different IP (if you have permissions to do this).

We use the DNS setup and it is fantastic!! I am in talks with DART support on the mirroring as that is what we are going to be doing for our environment as well. When I hear back from support, I will post the response.
Policies get in the way of fun.
