Default How often should the BES db be backed up, for DR purposes?

I'm trying to set up our BES environment for DR.

There is a document located here Livelink - Redirection on how to set up transactional log shipping and also how to fail over a BES and SQL server. I get most of it, but I'm not sure what the guide refers to when it says "set up services that support multiplicity", etc. No idea. Those options aren't even in my BES.

Anway, as a second option, I was considering just having the standby BES with the same SRP and then restoring the db.

How often does the data in a bes db actually change? Would once a day be recoverable if no significant changes were made during that last day (no new users/policies, etc).

If you haven't made any policy changes, user changes, license changes ... things of that nature, then you're really safe with once a day. You'll lose some statistical information, but you won't lose functionality.

If you decide to create a software configuration and assign / deploy it to users and then your DB crashes and you have no backup since you've created / set for deployment then you'll have to reconfigure.

I generally do hourly backups only because the impact is nil to the SQL server ... but daily is certainly ok. Its better than nothing at all, which unfortunately is what most MSDE installations end up being.
