Question MSDE 2000a - What is this

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, totally new to the whole blackberry thing, we have 8 and a BES that I am installing in the next week or so.

First question, our supplier said, make sure you install MSDE 2000a before the BES, etc. What is this, what does it do and how do I install (ie., download from a site?)

thanks a lot

what version of BES are you going to be installing and how many users are you looking to have on the BES server ? Depending on the number of users etc. MSDE or SQL can be choosen, MSDE 2000A is the Lite version of SQL Server and is MSDE2000 Release A and serves up to 25 concurrent users

I would use MSDE instead of SQL and the Databases are used for management and historical information. Also more importantly they are used by IT Policy, if you are going to be using IT policy, this is where all the policies info will be stored.

MSDE should work fine for you, installed on the same server. BES will ask you if you want to install it during the install process.

MSDE/SQL are databases which store information such as IT policy, settings, user info, etc... It is required to run BES.
