It depends on what kind of money tree and what kind of bugs we get. In reality no software is bug free. I have a Mac and I have to say there are a lot of bugs in the Apple apps and 3rd party apps so its better than windows but it is still buggy.

This is so friggin irritating that it jsut keeps getting bumped up all the time. November to February to March/April and I bet it will get bumped again to June.

If it doesn't show up in 30 days, I'm ditching my BB and getting an iPhone, just to spite RIM...

there has never been an official release date, just a guess, so technically, no, it never got bumped. rumors have changed and rumored release dates have come and gone, but nothing official.

I am sure your single BB will hurt them so bad they will rush and drop the new OS just to save your account.

Come on people nothing is set in stone from RIM everything is pure 100% speculation as to when it will come out. Is it really that big of a deal to get a new update geez. Some of you really need a life.

In that case you can patiently wait for the iphone to develop video recording and threaten on iphonecrackaddicts.com to ditch the iphone for a Curve if a firmware doesn't drop soon.

The man has a right to his opinion, it's not like he attacked you or anything. I love my BlackBerry and all, but some of y'all need to stop pole-jockin' RIM.

Just because some of us want our 8100's to be updated like the newer 81xx's means we have no lives? Come on now, buddy... Sounds like it is actually you who needs to get out a little.

I'm as interested in an OS update as the next guy, but I'm curious as to how the Curve is going to contain the additional features and software, with it's minuscule memory, as it is.

It's already juggling act to free up enough memory on the thing.

The Curve needs double the memory that it has.

The new features add VERY little overhead. After a fresh upgrade to a new beta, I have 17MB of memory free. I'm counting 1.5MB for Documents To Go (PowerPoint and Word, for now). The video recorder is 23KB. 17MB is a LOT of memory for data content, such as messages, contacts, calendar appointments, etc. Sure, 64MB is not enough when adding on hundreds applications you'll never use, storing your built-in camera pictures and downloaded ringtones, along with your entire MP3 collection, but the media portions of this are why everyone should have atleast a 1GB microSD card.

Jibi what 3rd party apps are you running to only have 17MBs? Cuz imo that's low for just having the OS on there

I'm not talking about MP3 collections, nor any media. I'm talking about the OS and a handful of apps.

My AT&T Curve only had around 17MB free and it only had the base OS and the following apps:

- Blackberry Maps
- Opera Mini
- Accuweather Push
- Google Maps
- Windows Live Maps

I had about 50 contacts, less than 25 emails without attachements and maybe three months of calendar data. That's it, and only about 17MB left.

I don't see how I could have 4.5 with it's new features, along with the above list and have much room left. Especially after using it for a while and putting the rest of my contacts and calendar on it, as well as more email.

I hope I'm pleasantly surprised. I wish I could easily eliminate AT&T's merchandising off the thing and free up more space. It's maddening that the devices are made to the minimum specs and then the carrier hobbles it further with their bloat.

I don't listen to MP3s on my phones, nor do I watch any movies, nor take many pictures. I don't even add ringtones. (I don't even play games on it.) I do use it for business and need a small handful of apps.

I don't like the endless grabs from AT&T for all of the services they are throwing against the wall to try to get you to buy - music, video, ringtones, Telenav, PTT, etc.

I'll keep an open mind for the update, though.

Google Maps, GMail, InfoSpace FindIt!, Leopard Theme, JiveTalk, Documents To Go, and Facebook.

Application Loader:
Base OS, Platform, etc - 31485 KB
Other Required Libraries - 2648 KB
Third-Party Apps - 3693 KB
Database Sizes - 891 KB (Options > Status > Database Sizes)
Total Used - 38717 KB

Options > Status:
File Total - 55936 KB (converted to KB)
File Free - 17413 KB (converted to KB)
File Used - 38523 KB

So it's a pretty accurate reading of what's available. This is in contrast to about 17-22MB of free space on an 8310 or 8320 running OS 4.2.2.

Many people are awaiting the many new features and enhancements that are coming with the 4.5 OS. Details have been discussed ad nauseam if you need to know about each one.

If you don't need the new bells and whistles, and you're happy with with your current OS... then there's no need for you to update.

At first I was looking forward to getting a update, but the more I think about it the more I realize that I'm perfectly happy with the way my 8310 performs now. I really don't need all the stuff the update will offer, but they would be nice to have.
Besides, I'd hate to going through the trouble editing the update to allow use of BB Maps on it again, along with deleting all the file that that allowed me to reach the 29000+KBs I have free at startup now.

What did you have to edit to allow BB Maps to work? When I installed it on my AT&T 8310, it worked without any kind of editing.

Thanks.
