Yeah I agree. With it being such a long time ahead and fairly consistent across all devices I'm just hoping it it will be 4.5.

Does anyone know if the upgrade will allow data from the calender, address book, tasks, and Memo pad to be stored to a memory card instead of the internal memory?

Well, as far as I know, yes. The Life Cycle page still shows the 29th for general availability. From what I've heard, it doesn't appear partners received it today, so that's one slippage. Also, RIM mentioned a few times on the webcast yesterday that it'd be out in 'three or so weeks', so I'm really not sure anymore. I can't think of many reasons why they'd halt it the week following the supposed internal certification.

Bull? Ok, lets get buggy OS's out there that cause major problems on the devices. That's a good idea.

Excuse my ignorance but we are talking about the 4.1 v5 server thingy right? How does it relate to the long-awaited 4.5 OS? Can someone put it into perspective for me?
I am confused again.

BES 4.1 SP5 was targeted for a November release. It was delayed until February. Due to the number of dependencies on OS 4.3.1/4.5.0 for the new features in BES 4.1 SP5, the OS was originally slated for the same timeframe for launch (February). So yes, they go hand in hand, to a large extent. The OS missed the February date. It appears the BES service pack may also miss it.

I wonder if all existing apps and games will work well on 4.5. For some reason this 4.5 upgrade is reminding me of Leopard with all new features and upgrades.

Please do not compare the BB to either Leopard or Windows Apps/Games will work fine for the vast majority (cant say all because someone always finds one that wont work)

Yeah i would say the BES is gonna miss it by 7-10 days The webcast they did a couple days ago said 2-3 weeks, puts it the first week or so of March.

Maybe that gives the carriers time to finalize the 4.5.0 device side OS for launch and the next big question is as a non BES user when will the carriers offer it. Once again the benefits of 4.5.0 are non existent without the service side so we need 4.1 SP5 and whatever the BIS side is as well for 4.5.0 to be of any value.

Are we there yet? No, you asked 5 minutes ago!, Are we there Yet? NO, so stop asking. I remember the days riding in the back of the station wagon on the way to my grandparents camp in PA how long the trip seemed as a kid.

So it will be here soon, but never soon enough for any of us because we just want the update to make our best converged device that much better.

Id have to say this seems like the most advertised update since I have been around. I havent seen this much anticipation for an OS update since I have been coming to BBF. Its crazy how many threads there are about it in the community. Even on the non BB boards.

But it all says the same thing; it will get here, when it gets here. no sooner. no later!

Does tha mean it is on its way Dawg?

When?

I agree this OS is so hyped and anticipated it isn't even funny. I have had customers come in and ask when the new OS would be available, they didn't even have BB's
