I even noticed that some themes do not work properly. I downgraded back to 4.2 until the official release. I must say that I did like some of the new options and the video camera. The address book was less then to be desired, or maybe I was just used to the old one.
That's two cents worth....lol

I am still on 4.5.0.18 and it seems fine. I cannot really tell but 4.5.0.10 might be faster?

but, it does help to clear your logs + do a battery pull. It seems to free up the memory and make it run faster.

I hear 4.5.0.21 is out there. But, I think it has some issues with wifi. I heard the same for .18 but i dont seem to see any issues.

I personally have no complaints about it. It runs fine. A bit slow as usal. But, im sure the final release will be faster.

When betas are run it is a two way street: the developers can communicate with the bug reporters and vice versa. In the case of this leak, anything "bugs" posted on public boards are of little use to the developers.
Have you ever been in a developers meeting? I have... And forums do play a role..At least for me, it would be a way to see further options for broad spectrum deployment. Public opinion is important for higher satisfaction numbers. And a good way to make an OS as close to "idiot proof" as possible...

That may be true in concept but it's definitely not the case here.

Gotcha! Im just thinking that the statements Ive been reading, not just on this forum, but others, should be valuable information for developers. It appears that most of us, have had access to the OS. And even though its not as satisfying as I thought it would be, its still nice to see that they are making moves to completion... The OS is nice, very pleasing to the eye. But so is Vista... And if RIM is paying attention, than all the hype and short fuses will have been worth it.. If not, and this OS is a real dissappointment, then it will all have been for nothing.

lol for those who get it

You'd be right if we were talking about a product that had been shipped

Many may disagree with me, but I personally believe that RIM is the one leaking these OS versions. It is the best way to beta test their software on the masses, especially with devices like the blackberry where RIM knows what OS you are running by simply having a constant connection with their server.
As for the 4.5.0.10, i only used it for few hours, it was killing my 8320. However, I have been using 4.5.0.18 without any issues for over a week now.

I tried 4.5.0.18 and it lasted for about 4 hours before it started to report low memory and I scrapped it. I realize that this is probobly my own doing becuase the suite of applicaitons that I load doesn't leave a much room for leaks (usually only 10 Meg free). Once I even crashed 4.2.2 with a low memory error. Anyway, my advice, if you load 4.5.0.18 leave plenty of space and definately don't load GMM 2.0.3, I think that was the nail in the coffin.

I've installed 4.5.0.18 on my 8320, and so far it's working fine. The Media Manager file problem I reported above appears fixed. As others have reported, I was initially unable to get JiveTalk to work until I installed DocsToGo, after which JT worked fine. Interestingly, once I had JT working, I tried deleting DocsToGo from the device, and JT continued to work.

With exactly the same apps and memory optimization steps taken, I had 24 MB of free memory under OS 4.2, 26 MB under 4.5.0.10, and now 27 MB under 4.5.0.18, which is impressive. I also notice that the mail interface is slightly improved from 4.5.0.10 to 4.5.0.18. So far, I have only positive things to report.

I post these observations not because I think they contribute to the official beta testing cycle. They don't. They are just for the benefit of anyone who might be interested.

4.5.0.18 and NO PROBLEMS!!!
For every negative "scare tactic" to persuade people not to try the "betas", there are lots of users with no "issues" and enjoying the new OS. Not complaining about bad software/hardware and ruining the BB reputation. The "problems" reporting may have to do more with how many 3rd party programs that you use, or if you are a board volunteer, or BBF brown noser here as to how much you scream "don't try it it's evil"!!

I have 4.5.0.18 and I am loving it ... thus far. NO Problems - Solid performer - 4gb card working just fine. Video/Voice/Camera all working A-OK.

No issues at all on a RED 8310.

Maybe these beta's are actually produced by competitors who want us to scrap our BB's and buy a different brand of PDA?
