Default OS 4.5.0.37 Officially Released--Shipping on Rogers 8120 - 06-05-2008, 06:00 PM

Well folks, it's official!!!

The new OS 4.5.0.37 is now shipping on the Rogers 8120. This was confirmed by having a trusted source go to the Rogers store for me and confirm it. Horizon Wirless owner went to the Rogers store to confirm for me today.

So far it's not out for download on the Rogers site but it'll likely be available there in the coming weeks.

Hopefully other devices aren't too far behind.

Enjoy!!

Wirelessly posted (Breaking Ball)

Yep... I was a non-believer as well. I've promptly taken my foot out of my mouth.

Glad to see it finally in the wild in some official form.

This is great! Hopefully the OS will spread like wildfire through the carriers sites for download. I haven't been excited about most of the OS releases, but I'll do this one (hopefully Tmob but whatever).

Well, this version on TMobile has allegedly been ruining sim cards. Not sure when newer versions will be out but, suffice to say, I bet TMo is a bit further down the road.

John. C

There is no proof that .37 has been frying sims on tmobile I have been running .37 for sometime now w/o any issues. Sims frying I think is a geographical occurrence.
Tmobile has nether confirmed or denied sim cards being sabotaged. How do I explain sims frying on .37 w tmo I cant, but I wont take wild guesses either.

Just by the sheer number of occurrences....I think *something* is going on. I've seen the same issue on other forums with folks loading this OS. Technically, we shouldn't even know as this OS shouldn't even be out there for everyone to load. However, it did leak and many have loaded it and shortly thereafter have fried their sim cards.

There are issues there. Additionally, .37 doesn't give UMA to most who have loaded it, either.

***Edited my post, though.

Personally, I think it's a combination of the OS and manufacturer of the sim cards. Only a guess, though.

On a previous post I had asked members if they were running wifi or trying to get uma to work with this os. Once I d/l .37 on my tmo 8320 I disabled wifi and I have not had any issues.

I actually believe that. I tried it for a while and UMA kept trying to connect over and over. If disabling wifi is the fix then the OS is broken.

I know we digress--but haven't we a confirmed user on Rogers network, with an unlocked TMo device, whose SIM fried?

I agree, but as suspected .37 was the version that was going to be released, other then uma/wifi its been stable for me. this version is being tweeked as we speak for a tmo release.

I tried .37 and yes, it was great with the exception of UMA. I took it off because of the UMA issue. The sim card thing is strange and not exactly sure what to attribute it to except the OS. I know there are versions being tested that are newer.

But UMA being a BIG issue on .37, if that is all that is holding back TMo, why don't they release .37 for the oher models... the 8300, etc ?

Well okay since this is official how long will it be until the downloads are released? And I believe its okay to load any carriers os right? Does it change ANYTHING at all? Like if I used a Rogers OS instead of US Cellular.

You can't use the 8120 OS on the 8130. Won't load and won't work.

Will there be an announcement on if it will work for the 8320? Just wondering since I have a 8320 from t-mo but my carrier is fido... Will it work on mine?

All OSs are model specific, and all OSs will work on the same model, regardless of carrier.

8320 for one carrier = 8320 on any carrier, just delete the vendor.xml file as noted in all instructions.

You can't mix model OSs with another model.

8320 OS won't work on 8310
8310 OS won't work on 8320
etc.

The only issue that I've noticed is a calendar issue. It seems the split calendar wants to delete some of my appointments on outlook. So, I did the "delete relatoinship" method and appeared to correct the issue.
