Default Good Bye OS 4.5.0.44 Release 62 - 06-26-2008, 02:48 PM

I must say that I really really liked OS 4.5.0.44 and all its new enhancements. I much as I love these new things I just can't live with the BB Messenger contacts getting erased after a Battery Pull, the icons resetting to its default value, and the memory leak.

I know other users aren't experiencing the same issues. I am going back to 4.2.2.184, although I am told that after using 4.5.0.44 I won't be able to live with the Downgraded version.

Lets see what happens!

Wirelessly posted

I have thought about the same thing, but really like the upgrades...so far the memory issues don't effect me and haven't had any of the problems that you were mentioning. Have you loaded the OS again? I had to put 4.5 on my Curve to get it at least workable with the memory leakage

True. I can't go back to 4.2, but then again, I am not experiencing those issues JLeny is having.

Are you on a BES connection? I had this issue with my Pearl 8120 running 4.5.0.42 with my BES connection. What I did was create a backup of my BlackBerry with all the contacts, the reinstall the 4.5.0.42 OS, then restore the BlackBerry Messenger contacts before doing the Enterprise Activation (I had my wireless radio disabled). I opened BlackBerry Messenger just to be sure the contacts were there, and they were. I then went through Enterprise Activation. I have done 3 battery pulls and don't receive that message any longer. It might be worth a try. I had gone back down to 4.3.0.115 prior to this because I too wanted my BB Messenger contacts to show up without this error. But now I am back on 4.5.0.42.

Miss the HTML browser and the Address Book and nifty new fonts. Memory is much better at 25MB in version 4.2.2.184 and the surreal theme is very very nice.

I will probably go back when I get 4.5.0.48 release 70

Everyone says about the new fonts in 4.5

I have 4.5, but can't say I've noticed any new fonts? Thanks!.....

I've "HAD" to pull once, but have pulled 3 times, and not once lost my BBM contacts...

I actually just started using BB Messenger with two days ago and I pull my battery daily just because.. Shes still my one contact and my whole conversation from the past couple days is still intact..
In fact it just beeped a second ago new message..

Regarding the fonts.. I HATE the new address book. The fonts used to be smaller, and was the same size as the Call Log. Now its huge and every contact name entry is like 1/2" tall and Ive only got like 6 on screen now where before the font was smaller and I saw like 20 names on screen at once.. I dont think anything Ive done reduced it either. Only setting for font size Ive found made the browser impossible to read.. Didnt affect anything else on the Curve..

.44 has a huge memory leak...I used Fisher's guide to free up memory cool. I don't get voice-mail notifications...apparently a known bug. Also UMA with Bluetooth doesn't work and a glitch with voicenotes. now everytime I get a missed call I need to make sure I check my voice-mail.

Upgrade to .48... LOL!

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

I had to downgrade to 4.2 as well with some of the issues that occurred. The memory leak was a big deal with me.

Another problem was its incompatibility with the Blueant Supertooth 3. It has text to speech so you have to upload your address book for your contacts. It will not upload the address book from my Curve. So I had to go back to 4.2 to get it to work.

Something that Blueant is going to have to work on I guess.

Can't seem to find OS 4.2.2, only 4.2.1. Any thoughts on where to find it?

Assuming your profile is correct, there is no 4.2.2 for the 8100. Only 4.2.1
