Angry So (#*&$#ing frustrated! Curve + OS 4.5 - 07-08-2008, 06:42 PM

I figured it would be a cool idea to upgrade my VZW 8330 Curve's OS from it's default 4.3.x to 4.5. Found the update on a website somewhere.

Anyway things were going great until the BB just froze. I thought, eh, that's an anomaly.

Anamoly my arse! I have since had this thing freeze up on me anywhere from 4-8x a day. I can't do anything but reseat the battery to get functioning again. It would freeze up doing anything. Surfing, reading email, PINing people, even just laying there on the coffee table doing nothing.

And this is with few apps installed. I know for a fact that the Gmail Application will not work with the Curve and OS 4.5. I get a java.lang.NullPointer error whenever I run it. I've had to since add my gmail address to my bb's email boxes in setup.

Anyone know where I can find the original OS for my VZW Curve? I'm so frustrated that I'm about to throw it out the window soon. argh!

I didn't know there was a 8330 OS Beta. You can get the OS from the blackberry website for your model.

Which version did you install? 4.5.0.33? That one has been reported to have more than a few bugs.

EDIT: Moved to Beta You Than Me forum.

If you have a sdcard in your BB, it might be rescanning it. You can easily check this out by taking out the sdcard. Did also happened to me and my BB froze up for nearly a whole day.

John, ok...sorry about that. I didn't know I was in violation. Thanks for the heads up.

Oh..I just got .45 We'll see how this fares. See if I still get my freeze ups.

I did notice that the OS is a bit snappier in performance. Nothing to write home about, but it's noticeable.
