Default Official 4.5 OS for 8820

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone,

How comes that an official 4.5 OS for 8820 is still not available?

Not even the 4.5.0.37 that is available even for 8700.

Is 8820 so buggy/problematic?

Does anyone have any idea when an official 4.5 will be available?

Thanks a lot

I've seen the 8820 v4.5.0.46 so it's out there.

I don't think that is official, right?

No, there has been no official release of 4.5 for the 8820.

Chapo, what you saw is an illegal, non-released beta version.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 9000 4.6.0.67)

Short answer is that the carriers have not put the stamp of approval on it yet, so its not released.

Thanks.

Is this because 8820 is particularly buggy?

I have another question: I know that installing an unofficial OS may void the warranty. But what if I install on a carrier X phone an official carrier Y released OS?

Thanks

I "think" it is because of issues with UMA and WiFi.

You can load any OS specifically for your 8820 model, regardless of carrier it was released for, as long as you delete the vendor.xml file. I don't think it will void the warranty, but then again, I haven't read your warranty.

Honestly... if you are fearful of voiding the warranty, don't load it.

And you can always downgrade the OS as well before taking it into your provider's shop

Problem without any OS... I just installed the 4.5 DM and my 8820 is not recognized anymore...

If I click on the "None" (in Device connected (PIN) I see USB, but if I open the Device Manager, in Connection Options, I only have COM1 and COM2 and not USB...

Thanks for your help!

Don't know what you guys are doing or not doing correctly, but, I have been running .42 on my 8820 for over a month now with no issues and I don't have any problems running my 3rd party software. As a matter of fact my 8820 is running flawlessly with .42. As with anyone who has obtained 4.5 you just have to be fortunate enough or in a position to get your hands on it. THE 8820 ISN'T BUGGY.

My bad, I missed the word 'official'. I was just answering if there was a 4.5 release for the 8820.

Same with me... It is running flawlessly... and I am loving it, espcially the new fonts and sharp presentation of items, ot to mention HTML mail.

Small minor issue is that I cannot play the voice notes received via BB Messenger.

Yes, I went to 4.5.0.46 on my T-Mobile 8820 this weekend, everything is great!

UMA calls work flawlessly too!!! Only (small) issue for me is that I get no voicemail indicator, but I use YouMail so I get a text message for every voicemail received anyway.

Hi!

Yesterday I upgraded my 8820 to v4.5.0.46.
Well, it's still unofficial, multi-language.
Everything is running fine except LANGUAGES.
Catalan and Basque are included, but Baltic and Scandinavian languages still missing......

Any ideas, how to add LATVIAN input LANGUAGE?

Is it possible that DM 4.5 doesn't recognize a device with a 4.2 OS (since I still haven't installed it)?

Please someone help.

Noone else had this problem before?

Thanks
