Default What is the best OS? - 07-19-2008, 12:58 AM

I have an 8100 Pearl and have been using the OS that came with it for about a year (4.2.0.67). I have been in various countries over that year and, to be honest, have not been able to follow the various OS releases which have been occurring since then. It's an unlocked phone, so I'm not tied into any carrier or anything. Can someone tell me if I should be upgrading to a better, more recent, OS? From my browsing on here, it seems like there are lots of little bugs on the newest OS's. Does anyone recommend perhaps an OS which is completely stable and has new features which my current 4.2.0.67 doesn't have? I can't seem to find info on what OS upgrades have what features (ie. what am I missing out on at the moment?).

Thanks in advance for any help!

Wirelessly posted (off to see the wizard)

If you have no problems currently with phone no real need. If you are like many here and just want the latest or greatest beta then 4.5.0.52 is pretty good

Just googleit and search

No need to google it, just download it from our 81xx section here-- in the Sticky Notes at the top of the section.

Is there other versions which are more stable than the 4.5.0.52? I guess I'm asking, which version in between that one and mine, is the best, most stable, and has the best enhancements?

Ok..I've searched endlessly on here but can't find the info. Where is there a list of what new applications or enhancements the new OS has over my 4.2.0.67? Is there any simple, easy to read info on this?

Here is the link to the OS. This is the most stable 4.5 http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

Biggest differences are HTML browser and email, you can use 8 GB memory card, view Youtube.
