The only issue I have had is a few uncaught exceptions in BBM and the every present loosing service switching from UMA to EDGE.

Uncaught exceptions in BBMessenger are caused when your contacts have smileys in their names. Some of the recent logos (BB logo and a few others) don't seem to cause the exceptions but smileys/characters from the smiley list definitely do.

I've had a few UMA to EDGE disconnects. Haven't been able to narrow down what causes it. However, it doesn't happenn all the time. Just once in a while.

To The OP sorry to thread jack but we did answer.

Yes the majority of people on my BBM List seem to have smileys. I deal with it. Does not cause too big of a problem.

I think my UMA to EDGE issue is partially because of my location. I have little to no T-Mobile service here. When I leave the house and drop off of UMA I go to Searching.... then usually No Service. I think my issue would be reduced if I at least had a signal it could drop over to.

I got all my contacts to remove the smileys. This started showing up in the 4.3.1 betas...

Oh, my issues are when I switch from UMA to EDGE, once in a great while it says EDGE but no data comes or goes. It happens so rarely now that I hardly call it an issue. It used to happen a lot with older versions.

True, of course - but I also think its useful to note that it appears that the latest to be "leaked" and therefore widely installed and discussed so far, is 4.5.0.69.

Gotta ask, how do you get the bb icon in your messenger name? As in, what's the code to type for it?

Default 8320

Hello all,

I am still running on the v.4.2.2.180. I am ready for an update !!

My desktop manager is V. 4.3 something.

1- do I need to upgrade one by one and go through all the versions, or immediatly the latest version? (what is the latest version by the way?) there are so many threads I dont know whats what anymore. Im assuming its the 4.5.0.81 .

2- I live in china, and I cannot download anything from blackberry.com, it keeps telling me that Im in a country that does not allow downloading !! Is there any other site or link I can get the latest version from ?

3- on my current firmware, I have the Media Card set to support Mass storage, but my Media manager does not find the Media card, doesnt matter if I turn the Mass storage support on or off, I read the other threads about this problem and nothing worked.

4- when I take pictures, I can change the directory where it stores the images, there is Device Memory , and Media Card, but I found out that the Device Memory Directory is Also on the Media Card!! it creates a whle sub-directory that is identical to my directories on the device and it stores the images there when I choose to save on Device memory. !! anyone know what the hell is going on ?

5- how can I do Web Push, the city I live in doesnt have BB services, so Im screwed in many ways, so Im using it as a regular phone!!

thanks for helping me out.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

You can upgrade directly to any version. However, we can't post downloads from other sites as its against the software license agreements. Google is your friend!
