Default Full screen SprintTV for 8830 possible

Please Login to Remove!

When using OS 4.5 8830 can have a working SprintTV. However,
most people downloaded the version 1.5.3 from fuji site that
does not have the same screen size as the 8830 (taking 2/3 of
the screen).

It turns out that the SprintTV for BB 8330 works fine on 8830 and
has the same screen size (version 1.5.2). I tested it and it works
fine.

It is at www mobitv com /rim/8330/SpintTVBlackberry.jad
download it from your BB AND do not put the filename

FYI

It doesn't seem to work for me. It gives me a "Media policy restriction message or something and says to contact my BES admin". What do I do now?

Contact your BES admin.
Looks like they have configured your BES to block this type of media.

Thats just it...I don't have a BES. This is my personal phone. Wait...Do i have to have 4.5 OS installed first? If so, how do I upgrade to that being that I have sprint? I tried through bberry.com but my DM says that I have the latest version already (4.2). What now?

OS 4.5 hasn't been released by Sprint yet. You won't find it on blackberry.com for your carrier.

Did you get your device brand new, or second hand? Sounds like it might have a restrictive IT Policy on it.

OK, then the issue for you is that you don't have OS 4.5.
You'll should wait until Sprint releases that OS for your device.

OS 4.5 does exist in the wild for you device should you choose to seek it out and install it. (Don't ask where to get it... you won't get an answer here.)
I don't recommend you do this, seeing as you're an inexperienced new user.
Your call though.

That's what everyone keeps saying. I just found it. We'll see how it goes. If anything goes wrong I'll just revert back to 4.2. Gotta get the "experience" somehow. Thanks fellas I'll keep u posted on how it turns out.

Ok so I loaded 4.5 on my 8830 and have already noticed some of the bugs people complain about (no ring, no vibrate in particularly). Anyone know of a fix to these issues?

I guess I'm talking to myself here. Anyway I'll still elaborate for those not in the know. I tried copying files from the old OS to fix my issue but it just wasn't there anymore. So i have reverted back to 4.2. I liked the new features of 4.5 but it was veeeery slow and didn't seem worth it. I'm in IT and everything I own is overclocked so it didn't make sense for me to keep something so slow. I will find a way to make 4.5 faster and post here if anyone is having the same issues.

You need to search in the forums for the ringtone fix, which is very easy. The 77 works
great. There are almost no problems with it.

I can't post links yet since I have less than 10 posts. Fill in the blanks!

I did that but like I said it just ran so slow on my particular phone. I don't know why but it did. I'll do another upgrade this weekend and see how it turns out. Feel free to send me a pm with steps on exactly how u got urs. Thx.

Perhaps you are low on memory. OS 4.5 takes more space than 4.2. Check by
Tools-->Status and look for free memory. When it falls under 12MB it starts
to slow down. In that case do a battery pull to see what it is afterwards. You
may have to delete some applications, stored sample videos, etc. There is a news
thread in describing these and other steps.
