Default BlackBerry Replaces Business Cards - Beta users wanted

Please Login to Remove!

We've developed a free mobile app called DubMeNow.com. Dub allows anyone with a smart phone to instantly text or email all their contact information to another smart phone. The contact data loads directly to the users mobile address book and updates automatically whenever a contact changes their information. No need to swap, save, enter or update any more business card data.

Additionally, you can invite contacts to connect via social networking sites such as LinkedIn, 'tag' or note information about the contact and see when and where you met.

We released our public beta last week for BlackBerry 4.2 - 4.3 users. We're working on 4.5+ now. We're looking for beta testers to provide feedback, suggestions, etc. to help us improve the product.

We've partnered with RIM and are working with them on development as well.

Please take a minute to register online and let us know what you think.

Regards,

Chris Hopkinson

So would your database keep users' data on your servers to scan for changes and push that out to other subscribed users of your app? Can you explain a little about how it would actually work with BES and BIS?

For example, if Jane adds Jim's home number to the contact info, would other people on your service who have Jim in their contacts, also get Jim's home #?

Also, what if two users had a mutual contact but with different phone numbers or email address? How would it reconcile the two contacts or would it give each user the option to keep their own or accept changes?

Not trying to be difficult - sounds like an interesting idea, so just wondering how it might work.

Thanks for your responses. We're releasing BB 4.5 and up in December. I'll add you to the beta invite when that is ready. We're currently in 4.2 - 4.3.

Thanks for your questions. 1. Changes are pushed out to your connected BlackBerry and synch with BES and BIS. 2. Per Jane and Jim example, no. Contact data is not shared if it wasn't originally received. 3. Same as number 2, contact data is not shared.
So, if you and I exchange contact information and I change jobs; my contact data would be updated in your address book and anyone else's address book I exchanged contact info with. We're working on adding multiple profiles, so you can share business or personal contact data. I think that's the root of your question. Just downloaded and installed DUB for my 8830 with OS 4.5.0.77. It won't uninstall with the Desktop manager as other applications do. Bug?

Are you having any issues with Dub? Any feedback is greatly appreciated as we're trying to resolve issues.

To uninstall, go to Options-Advanced Options-Applications. You'll see Dub listed and can remove from there.

Thanks.

Only complaints I have is the lack of int'l support and app is too big.

Best,
Jaime

Chris, love the application, but 13MB for an application is a little bit high.

Gmail gives me a warning, in the confirmation e-mail, that you could be a phishing site.

May want to look into that.

It doesn't work properly for anyone outside the US!!

Bummer.

Also look into allowing different countries format for the phone number please.
