Default Latest OS for 8830..

Please Login to Remove!

Just a quick question since I haven't been up on beta's..

Anyway I activated my Old 8830 for my father to use while he is traveling and I want to make sure he's got 4.5.

I ran into issues losing my calendar on 4.5.0.77 with my Curve so I'm not sure if the same symptom exsists on the 8830. I've been running 4.5.0.97 on my Curve without any problems..

But as I said I haven't been keeping track of any recent beta's escpecially for the 8830..

What Beta OS do you guys recommend?

I would NOT recommend any beta OS period... There is a reason it's called beta...

If you want stability, stick with the carrier released official OS...

Well, that may be a little overly cautious....

.127 is the latest beta that RIM/partners have been testing. I don't know what the latest is that can be found.

I think the latest in the wild is .101.

I ran both .77 and .101. I feel .101 is snappier but the media player (especially for videos) is buggy and no full screen. .77 ran full screen just fine.

Do you remember if either OS was better with the memory management?

.101 is definitely better as far as memory management -- better, but still not perfect.

AGREED

I can live with the media player bug. The rest of .101 is rock solid. Best beta yet and doesn't have me longing for the official release, but I do wonder what the hold up is.

Agree. I have a rare memory issue (q/4 wks or so). Dont recognize it until I go to install an app and get the out of memory. A simple reboot cures the ills.

I've been using .101 for a few days now as well and overall I like the improvements. However, I have noticed a few times that it seems to be rebooting on its own. Anyone else have this problem? Should I have searched before posting

Most likely the micro-SD card issue discussed earlier. You need to backup your SD card
stuff and reformat the card from the media option and put the stuff back on.
