Well I should have waited one more day before breaking down and installing .119. I did it last night, and just now found .131. Hehehe!

I have not installed .131 yet, I went from .97 to .119. From what I rember the upgrade from .77 to .119 is worth it. I gained memory and speed on my device.

I have never had an issue with speaker blast. I find that to be a very odd problem. Too many ppl report the issue for it to not exist, but then there are ppl like me who have never once expirenced speaker blast. I've had my curve since July of '08 upgraded every time a new os came out without ever having that happen to me.

Odd very odd.

Did a wipe to get rid of .119 and did the install without any problems. Am only going to recover contacts/mail/tasks/memo/passwords/bb messenger databases - everything else will be clean install and am hoping this will fix a lot of the problems I encountered with .119 (which I kept because it ran so quickly)

Everything is great so far, no speakerphone blast. Something that is still not working though is viewing pdf files that come as attachments in an email, although this might be a setting somewhere? Always used to work.

Hmmm, trying to install this one is giving me a hung backup in DM 4.7 at the RMS database backup section. The PC just sits there. It does this several times when trying to backup the database.

Yup, I know about the vendor.xml file thing. I also did a search on how this was a problem on older models. I'm using DM 4.7, Vista, and a VZW 8330 so I'll have to explore this issue further .....

It didn't hang, just sat there for about 20 minutes. Looking good so far ........

Forgot to install the attachment service - installed and realised that it won't work on emails that had already arrived. Works now.

I think someone mentioned using the space button to turn the screen on and it didn't seem to confuse the phone as much.

As for pros to this build:
Been reported more stable
-quicker
-No speaker blast
-once again spotted talks about battery and memory performance being better

cons:
-Backlight delay
-auto light for video camera still not working

Default Unable to install 4.5.0.131 - 01-28-2009, 07:05 PM

I have installed numerous beta versions of the OS on my Verizon 8330. I have been using .97 for quite a while.

However, .131 is the first version that has ever given me a problem. In fact, I can not even install this software, I get a "fatal error..." message and it leaves the existing .97 OS installed.

Any ideas?

The only thing I can suggest is if your not a Sprint customer is to delete the Vendor XML file. I can't see who yoiur carrier is on the wap forum.

YES!! Speakerphone blast finally gone. I do notice the backlight delay, its maybe 200ms slower in coming up than it was before. Doesn't look like a bug, more like a design change - I'm not entirely sure it bothers me to tell the truth, just different than it was. It also lives up to the hype, very snappy performance overall, even compared to .97 and .119. I even think it's playing my videos better.

Upgrade, you won't be disappointed!

I haven't noticed any of those problems. This is by far the best OS I've used, and my Telus 8330 is actually quick in the menus.

Default Update Question - 01-29-2009, 02:16 PM

This is my 3rd or 4th OS update across multiple devices, all have worked fine. I downloaded and installed .131, deleted vendor.xml, wiped the device using JL_CMdr, then ran AppLoader. So far, so good. Resent Service Books, Re-Registered on BES. Did a battery pull. Everything seems to be working right. Two small things - First, when I try to go to "Options, About" to see the version info, I get nothing - it will not go to that screen. Second, I used to have a different colored border around email for BIS v BES, now they are both light blue. Anybody else seen this?

I have installed it. Haven't had it long enoigh to report, but no problems on the install. I did notice that I had to run the exe twice. Once to remove the existing one then again to install .131.

I have been running this just since last night. I did alot of internet usage and ran what little apps I have installed. The only issue I have had was the frist time I went to use the camera, the phone locked up completely. I did a battery pull and since have had no problems. I'll test battery life today. So far tho, this OS seems alot faster in loading apps, and retrieving web pages.

Anyone on VZW having these issues with 131?

VZ Nav launches by itself

GPS flaky in BBMaps

GPS Does not work with 9-1-1 calls (I know this because I am a 9-1-1 admin and make test calls with each OS I try)

Other than this, it is good.

I do not have VZW Nav. I have tested the GPS w/BBmaps and so far it has been spot on. I tried it in three or four different locations. I haven't had to make a 9-1-1 call (thank goodness) so I can't say about that either.

Options->About will not work if you did not install voice dialing (it has been this way on all 4.5 releases). To get OS info, you can do alt-shift-h (Help Me) from the home screen.

Any change in call quality? (I'll probably be installing this tomorrow morning.)

I think I am going to downgrade... First time ever I have been unhappy with a beta.

It is solid, don't get me wrong, but the GPS is flaky now. I have never had this before. VZ Navigator and BBMaps fix briefly then fail. VZ Navigator relaunches on it's own.

There is a lot of good in this, but I use the GPS a lot and if I can't figure out why it is flaky, I need to go backwards.

Installed it about 45 minutes ago, just as responsive at .119 still got 45 MB of file free!

My BBMaps GPS worked right off the battery sitting inside my house none the less.

But I'll keep messing with this and post back.

I haven't given up. I have uninstalled and reinstalled VZ Nav twice. Suddenly it seems to be working ok. Probably 10 battery pulls, etc in the interim. BBmaps is ok to, although it does frequently say "searching for satellites" but comes right back and it had done that for me ever since the first release that enabled GPS. I will keep playing with it.

The only problem I have encountered is in the browser. I cannot change the homepage away from the mobile.blackberry.com default and I cannot change the emulation to be not Blackberry (no drop down menu) - but the browser works fine.

I can still change my Browser emulation, wierd.

I still have the issue where if I playing music or have a song paused with do the opposite when I holster it. (Ie. If I pause a song I holster it and it will start playing, or if I have a song playing and holster it the music will pause, have had that since .97, anyone else notice that?)

I'm having an issue with battery life. I took my phone off the charger at 6 am this morning. I have used it very little so far today. Just some pushed e-mails and SMS messages. I am at 80% on the battery. By the end of the work day at 5pm I will be below 50%. I'm going to pull all the apps off my device and start with just a bare bones OS and see if I still have the problem. If I don't then I guess I will load them back one at a time and see if that is where the problem is.

I am also having a problem with very flaky GPS. I am actually using Sprint 8330 and it will find satellites in Telenav or Blackberry Maps. For some reason Google maps finds satellites and current location without a problem.
