I lost my browser in this upgrade and could not get it back no matter what I did, so I had to go back to .266.

Well, really, all you lost was the icon (so did I). It is the same browser, it just goes to MEdiaNet first (as its home). Once you do a Go To..., and go to a site, you won't know the difference.

I'm not saying that this behavior is okay - that is just the way that 5.0 rolls.

Are you sure about this - you cannot use your calendar or alarm? Did you try rebooting?

I haven't loaded 5.x since it came out, I'm waiting for a version that comes out that has the default internet browser without a hack to make it work and FB and gtalk to work before I make the jump. Too many things that I need to use daily when away from the office that aren't working yet.

I'm with audit on this one. There is a combination of issues, native OS functions not working properly, and 3rd prty apps that I rely on not working either. Not to mention, 4.6 is just fine for me.

Barring a miracle, it will be a few months until I am fully on board with 5.0.

I'll load it when we get a version that can keep up with my typing.

I initially was missing the calendar file as well. I extracted the file again and chose repair OS, then reloaded my Bold. The missing files were there the second time around. My only major complaint at this point in the battery usage seems higher than 4.6.

The only .93 issue that I've noticed is that messages occasionally are not sent out. You have to resend them.

Not a big deal, just a bit of a nuisance.

After reading many people having issues, I decided to hold off on updating to 5.0, I am gonna wait until .110 is leaked before I take the plunge

I plan to say on .247 until the 5.0 is sorted out, so I will be on 4.6 for awhile.

I played with this build, but it lasted less than a day. The browser seems to be a downgrade from 4.6. It's slower and buggier, but that may be because it's the media net browser rather than internet browser. Google Talk didn't work, and neither did Facebook 1.5.

The really annoying thing is that all drop down lists in the UI are borked. The DDL's now show with a frame around them, so any page using a DDL element has some really messed up looking formatting.

Using DM 5.0, the downgrade could only be accomplished with network access interrupted. DM kept wanting to push me to AT&T's approved firmware, rather than my locally-installed 4.6.0.266.

it's an early beta. i was whining about there being nothing solid that works on 5.0, but as said, it's an early beta so it's bound to be buggy as hell. so what if we gotta wait a few more months?

I am facing a terribly bad network coverage with both of the OS 5.0 releases. As for me, I've already switched back to the 4.6 .

After nuking my Bold attempting to load 5.0...I brought it back to life by force-loading .266, and I am very happy with where I'm at. I'll be staying put until 5.0 comes out as an official build version...even if it takes months.

I've never had any problem upgrading my OS to any new beta or "official" release...until 5.0.

That's cause it's a very early beta. not even *solid* like the other betas of 4.6. waiting for a bit won't hurt i reckon

After using 5.0.0.93 for more than a week, I am heading back to .266 as well. The negatives on this beta far out-weigh the enhanced features. Battery life has been very poor and some background activity is causing the device to become quite warm. Memory leakage seems to be quite excessive as well. It is always fun to try the new beta's and I am sure I will jump on the next version of 5.0, but for now, I am ready to be back on .266!

For some reason every build of 5.0 has had some kind of wonky effect on my profiles. First I just couldn't customize profiles on .55, then on .90 the custom alerts would work sporadically, today everything started out fine on .93 but I switched it to vibrate this morning from normal and when I switched back to normal it makes no freaking noise at all nor does it vibrate. What ... the ... hell?!?
And yes, I tried a battery pull. *shrug*

I don't understand why the heck so many people are jumping on this obviously not-ready-for prime-time beta when the vast majority of users are having issues...some severe!

At least when I loaded it, it was brand new.

Irrational behavior never makes sense.

My profiles are fine except for BBM doesn't make noise or vibrate when I get a new message. Weird. But I can kind of suck it up. Otherwise I am enjoying the latest build of the 5.0 OS even if it is a bit quirky.

Default Did anyone try SplashID 4.21? Is it compatible with OS 5 - 05-24-2009, 01:45 PM

I need it very much so I don't want risking installation if it is not going to work.

SplashData so far has not confirmed the compatibility to me.

Played around with it for a while and I like the new features. Was pretty stable as well, but .93 doesn't seem to support MDS. At least I couldn't find the option when installing the OS.
Will go back to 4.6.x tomorrow

Using 5.0.0.93 since it leaked.

Apps that work for me:
Gmail 2.0.6
Google Maps 3.0.2
Opera Mini 4.2
Market Simplified 1.4.1
Slacker 1.1.23
UberTwitter 0.55 (twitterberry 0.9 also worked, but ubertwitter is way better)
WiFi
Palringo worked(the new version includes facebook chat), but I didnt like it so I dont have it installed anymore

Apps I wish worked:
Facebook 1.5 doesnt work as in the icon is missing, I didnt even bother trying 1.6
MSN Live & AOL messengers also dont work, icon missing

visual voicemail now says something like "configuring visual voicemail" but never finishes; I guess it's a step up from the "provisioning unsuccessful" msg.

some of the programs have issues with the profile settings as mentioned before, like when I set it to vibrate, bbm vibrates on first alert but then only does the LED thing afterwards.

there's the occasional browser freeze, but once I clear the cache it loads fast, and on wifi it's just crazy fast!

this alpha/beta OS has been pretty solid, no crashes or auto reboots.

In addition to the working apps everyone else has written I can happily add:

SlingPlayer
BerryWeather
SolMania
Garmin Mobile -EU
TeleNav
Ascendo English/French
Oanda Currency Converter

So far the only casualty is Facebook and I now have the HTML BIG font issue.

Where is the icon for visual voicemail? I don't seem to have it on 5 (.93)
So far everything else, minus facebook, is working great.

Interesting. I'm also a fast typer. What it has in gorgeous white on back eye candy with the progress bar, it lacks in speed. How does it manifest itself in your case?
Thx!

Hello everyone,

I found another issue with this built, when I tried to pair the bluetooth headset with it, if found it, then ask for the code and when it tried to connect, the BB just rebooted. the same thing happen with other bluetooth devices and corrected when downgraded to 4.6
