This and .141 are the only two i have ever had color banding on. If that is a bug, or just done to speed up the UI.

And i am not holding EDGE. Im having the (now normal) EDGE-edge.

yet another let-down with this OS -- based on what i am reading here, crackberry, blackberry OS. really, i'm baffled, is this a hardware problem or RIM has some inexperienced programmer behind the wheel charged with 9530 software ?

These are unreleased versions of the software, being tested. If you don't want to test, stick with a carrier released version.

I know others' mileage may/will vary but so far this is the most rock solid/stable OS I have installed. I have only done 3 betas. 113, 132 and 148 and 148 blows them out of the water. I have found a keeper.

Wow...all I can say is that I've never been this optimistic after a new beta OS install, but immediately after installing this one it's showing noticeable differences...(although my Quick launch now flickers for me when on .141 it didn't which I was led to believe was because I used a different radio file...so maybe that's the key here) [can be fixed by assigning a convienience key to QL and THEN goign into QL>Options>disable all convienience key actions and then hitting the previously assigned convienience key TWICE to bring up QL and a white screen, it works, but it still a burden]

radio is holding 1XEV very solid indoors
seems like they sped up the interface so scrolling appears to be very smooth, not like the laggy scrolling with .141
I have yet to test out my Bluetooth, with .141 the reception was very poor indoors and out, whereas prior to .141 reception was impeccable
screen rotation seems either the same or a bit better (due to the memory being stable i guess)
LOCKING IS FIXED (YAY!!!) and faster
the search feature within a message list is now working and even better than in .141 (i.e. hold finger over a message to search sender)

I'm planning on testing this all day tomorrow with background processes and monitoring battery lfie and talk time etc...I have a long day at the brewery tomorrow, so if it doesn't hold up I won't be very happy...

crossing my fingers!

good build (prolly the best yet)

so y not just try it and see -- is what i said to myself yesterday.....

my OS history is: .75-->.76-->.122-->.148

note: after installing i did one quickpull and one battery pull (2 resets).

so far the radio seems to be the same as it was with .122. once it grabs EDGE, it stays there....in the first hr after reset it toggles somewhat.

noticed the OS is snappier, works smoother and faster than .122. browser is confirmed faster. the lock/unlock is almost instantaneous when compared to previous releases. Quicklaunch strobing hasn't been addressed since the more recent .141 release, but it still functions once you select something from the normal popup menu. it appears as tho only the popup menu part of the app is affected.

have not fully tested everything, so far it's been about 10 hrs running and seems stable. i'll post again when more time has elapsed.

I find 148 to be painfully slow on my device. 113 was the very last "snappy" OS for me. Why are the newer OS versions so friggin' slow?

Look at Options > About, third line down beginning with "v4.7.xxxx"

What is your OS there?

My DM OS is 4.7.0.32 is there a newer one available now that could be causing the problem?

Otherwise my phone OS is 4.7.0.132 ...and I am sick of this one, i really need an upgrade lol

but for some reason my DM only finds .65 and .75 :/

J,
I wish i had your problems. I also have big lines across my screen almost like a screen defect or malfunction, but its only when im typing. I will be going back to .122 that is the last time i had minimal amount of problems mixed with .90 radio.

I have had .148 installed for nearly 40 hours now and it's been great so far!

Specifically, not one crash yet (though still a little early to tell), and it definitely seems a bit snappier than some of the other betas I've tried.

One bug that I've had since .122 (I think) that's still not fixed here is when I'm playing MP3's from the media card it will switch to a new song but there will be no sound and I'll have to hit the volume key in either direction to get it back.

Oh, and YAY FOR FIXING LOCK!!!!

so far i'm impressed with this release....feels better than .122 overall. since quicklaunch strobing was fixed with v1.5, nothing really to complain about....

except for the radio delay to catch and hold EDGE after a reboot, i've noticed better reception and more bars.

yea quicklaunch is fixed...that's a relief...

anyways about 2-3 days of testing I've found this OS is pretty solid...it had a few kinks that were resolved just by battery pulls (i.e. highlighting on compose new message when in message list would not disappear, wavering signal strength, and browser taking a while to find a website)

Bluetooth reception is still significantly bad compared to older OS versions

battery life has been GREATLY improved as I believe this phone manages the memory leak a whole lot better, as well as background apps have stopped stealing memory they don't need...

talk time improved greatly

screen doesn't flicker on occasion anymore (at least not yet)

GPS takes a bit longer to catch on using Google Maps, but it usually gets there by the time I reach my destination (lol)

other than that, this build is a far better improvement over all the other OS releases...if you do have issues I highly recommend doing a full wipe and starting fresh, if you're not willing to do so, try a battery pull a few times a day and it should freshen up the OS fairly well...surprisingly enough this version responds in a "progressive" manner to battery pulls

Right now my BlackBerry has an uptime reading of 274162 seconds, so that's 76.156 hours or just over 3 days. Compared with many of the previous beta OS's, that's impressive.

Also, internet browsing and general phone "snappiness" SEEM a little faster, not sure how true that actually is.

At one point my phone was stuck with a 1Xev signal for about a minute before I turned the wireless radio off then back on, and it's been working fine since (had I left it alone, it may have fixed itself, idk).

I have had this loaded since it was leaked. Had been just fine... but of late I have noticed that after a period of time on my charger; the signal moves to 1Xev and then to 1x... and i need to either pull battery or toggle the signal on/off (via manage connections) to regain 1XEV. Last night I received my last email at 1230a. Did a batt pull at 445a this am and discovered that I had been sent emails/texts post 1230a that were consequently received at 446a (post pull). Have wiped the device and am currently reinstalling .148 in hopes that this issue doesn't repeat itself.

I'm seeing a pretty good memory leak with this build. I can run for about 3 days before I am so low on memory that quick pull will throw an exception error when I try to use it. It also seems to be a little worse on battery use then the 141/5.0 hybrid i was using prior to this leak. I am probably going to go back to the hybrid, as the memory leak is enough of an issue that I have to do an actual battery pull.

do u run memory cleaner and clear the event log in between resets ?

i noticed the memory management of this OS is better than before, some mornings i wake up and check to find it at 45-40MB file free. my typical file free after a reset is around 47-45MB.

Well, I reinstalled .148 this AM... after a wipe. Deleted service books/added service books. All was fine until I went to a lunch appt. Entered the restaurant with 1XEV, came out with 1x. Waited a 1/2 hour to see if 1XEV would return... it didn't. So I toggled wireless off/on and 1XEV came back on.... had 11 emails, 2 FB and a missed call!!!

Downgrading to .141

Downgrading to .141
I have the same problem. But, I had it with .141 and .132 also. I generally only notice it when I'm tethered, though. I have done *228 option 2, to update my roaming list several times in the last month or two, hoping that would clear up the problem, but it hasn't.

Yeah, I've been noticing the 1xev thing as well. I have to toggle my radio to fix it.
