Its leaked and out in the wild. Dowloading as I type. Google is your friend to search for this release.

Okay here is my findings so far... My BBM 5.0 is not working, Can't even find it on my device, although its listed on the install application list? If anybody has any ideas on how to get it to work, I would be greatful. I even unistalled and reinstalled the 8900 one for OS 5.0

For Both Of You --

My Process is when I installed 5.0.0.130, I did a wipe. Did not install BBM Messenger during the install and then d/l'd the "For 5.0" BBM5 that is floating around.

Obviously, you've already installed. Maybe trying to complete uninstall BBM5 then reinstall w/ the different install file?

So, you're asking

"Why doesn't Facebook work with beta software that hasn't officially been released by RIM?"

*crickets*

Gee, I dunno - they must be intentionally doing this to you.

FaceBook will not work until version 1.7 is released. Its currently being worked on and shouldn't be long before release.

Also SureType is still in this version for qwerty phones. Go to Options>Languages>Select Text Input Options>Tick "Predictive Text">Menu>Save and SureType will work.

This is what I did after having the same issue: I disconnected any wireless/network connection before upgrading. Worked like a charm... how? I dunno, just worked. Who knows...

It's not bad so far. Wallet still doesn't work (no app icon) which is the only application I miss.

App World isn't working for me (not a deal breaker) but the new applications list looks nice. Also, seems like there is a trusted app option after each installation which is a nice touch as well.

Still checking it out, but barring any major issues I think I'll keep it around.

Did a battery pull and it seems to be working now. I had a custom vibrate profile initially, so I also reverted to the default which may have helped as well.

Shuffle songs doesn't work. They also got rid of the "Media" application in this one so you just have the main icons for the separate media applications.

When filling in a username and password for applications like Viigo and TweetCaster, after typing the username when scrolling down, it freezes. I have to press the 'Back' button once then I can scroll to the password.

One thing I find annoying with all the 5.0 betas so far is they don't have the F homescreen shortcut to get to the profiles.

While on this topic, after testing a profile item, the light keeps blinking. Needs a reboot to get rid of it.

When editing profiles (now called 'Sounds'), it has the option to vibrate while ringing.

When you have a missed call, and you get the popup that you can click the "View" button, clicking it used to just bring you to the phone app. It now goes to your messages and filters it to missed calls.

Default Internet Browser Missing - 07-28-2009, 12:07 PM

Are you guys missing the Internet Browser in this release as well? When I upgraded to 5.0, I only have Hotspot Browser and MEdiaNet options for browser. I was wondering if this is just missing in the beta or if it's some configuration issue.

Try going to Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Menu Key > Register Now.

I hate how they seem to be getting rid of shortcuts... With 4.6 and the 'Clock' app the 'R' shortcut to the alarm was taken away and now the 'F'...

Agreed. It's a tad funny also when things that work great become busted in newer betas. I know it's the nature of things but it's still enough to make me shake my head with a smile.

But yes, they shouldn't get rid of shortcuts that people have become so accustomed to using to get around quicker.

Off they got rid of the Media app as well. I'm sure they have a good reason for it... but I like organization and it worked well in that aspect, in my opinion.
