Default Help with BBM please - 08-20-2009, 11:18 PM

Hello,
So it has already been a while since the BBM5.0 has leaked but I've still been afraid to use it.

I'm currently on a T-Mobile 8900 and am tempted to change it but heard that BBM5.0 has been messing up some peoples phones dude to some unfixed bugs. I heard some people even lost all their contacts and I don't want to lose mine because I have 40+ contacts right now and re-adding would be a pain. Does this still happen?

If I update to BBM5.0 and something happens and I restore my phone through DM, would I still have all my contacts?

What is the most stable version out right now and where can I download it because I hear there are a couple version floating around.

Thank you.

Unless your ready to mess around with it then I would stay with what you have. It really isn't that much different. Most of the features won't work til OS 5.0 is out. I went back to the stock BBM.

i use bbm 5.0, and the glitches are a hassle. it's nothing you can't deal with.

what i would strongly suggest to you is the following:
-make a backup of your bb, including your bbm contacts using DM.
-if you're adventurous, then install bbm 5.0 for the curve 8900.
-if it starts acting weird, then first try re-registering with your network.
-if it still acts like it's on drugs, then delete 5.0 (this is after you have made a backup. please don't otherwise.)
-connect your phone to your computer. start DM.
-downgrade your OS and install the bbm 4.6 that came with it.
restore your phone
voila
you have contacts and the old bbm back.

Please don't think that I will add you to my BBM. I won't. Especially if I get sleazy PM's.

i agree with CoDudette.. If you back it all up and follow her instructions you should be ok.. Glad CoDudette that BBM 5.0 worked out for you lol.. i thought you had issues before so you downgraded.

i did have issues. but as was stated, it was the outage that was killing me! none of my messages were getting delivered. also, i lost 75 contacts, but after downgrading, it worked ok. and with a backup, i restored all my contacts. i'm still irate because everytime i do a quickpull, it doesn't restore the way it should, so it's annoying me even more.

ohh i see.. yeah, the outage affected all bbm users (5.0 and non 5.0). i know the feeling lol i'd be waiting for the 'd' or 'r' to come and it'd never come. i tried using quick pull and yeah it didn't work the way i wanted to so i just took it out. i have the bold too like you so similar issues. although, im waiting for the new official os to release for att this tuesday hopefully it fixes many of the issues lol...

it's annoying because the quickpull actually screws up the bbm. as a result i want to go back to the old bbm. i know.. sounds bad but have to do it. i can't handle it anymore.

lol, yet again downgrade? i didn't notice that for the brief time i had quickpull. for me it was the blackberry itself that was acting up. well, don't worry im sure whenever os 5.0 comes out officially it'll be better. how's the rain in mumbai? and is it still pretty bad with the swineflu outbreak? heard places were close in mumbai because of that. (im from mumbai too lol).

Ive used it since day one of it being leaked and I love it I haven't had any of the issues that others have had. Ive seen zero delay or lost any contacts. I have recommended it to everyone I know.

You can't use the new BBM with 5.0 OS that has been leaked lately. It will show as installed but no where to be found.

ahhh i couldn't handle it!! i had to do the downgrade. plus have you noticed that if the person hasn't read the message it will not show them as 'away' as in 4.6. thereby you can't set an alert for them when they do read the message. it's highly annoying at times..just my 2 bits

and swine flu pandemic had it's media hype for about a week or so and now it's back to normal..i think people in mumbai are too nonchalant if you ask me.. hehehe, can't stay indoors! and the worst part was that people were discarding those masks everywhere! talk about littering..so yea. back to normal.
SORRY OT.
