Default OS 5.0.0.230 exe - 09-29-2009, 07:40 PM

I saw a link over at CrackBerry about the release. It is an exe file so no need to install over .191. Has anyone tried this, especially someone on Sprint. I am running .53 right now and it is working fine. Would like to try 5.0 but need to see some feedback.

It would be an exe file, this is so you install it on your pc to load it via desktop manager.
all OS's are exe when you download them from sites.

I've been running .230 on sprint for almost a week. It is very fast and stable. I understand that the latest version BBM doesn't work on it, neither does the GPS, and I just discovered that Smartview for tethering doesn't work either. Those functions aren't important to me and the rest of the OS is the best yet. Looking forward to the completed release.

GPS works for me on .230. I use an app called GolfLogix and it found satellites.

Default In regards to GPS... - 10-02-2009, 05:35 PM

I've been running this OS for awhile now and Sprint Navigation seems to think that GPS is "Off" and wants to send me to Options> Advanced Options, etc. to turn it "On".
I'd tried so many times that it just became too frustrating and I stopped attempting. I now use Google Maps (just really missing those turn-by-turn audible instructions), and will wait for the official release so that Sprint will create a working version for OS 5.0.

I have the same problem with Sprint Nav. I found a generic TeleNav version at one of the blackberry forums (I forget which) and it should be at one of these over the air download sites. Just type them in your BB phone browser with http: before the link. I'm too new to post urls.

//otacdn.telenav.com/resources/2009-06-09/Bellca_RIM_9630_20090608/1_3_0_16/GPSNav.jad

//ota.telenav.com/ota/bellca/nav

//ota.telenav.com/ota/sn

I've been running it and it has no problems with the GPS, and looks just like Sprint Nav. I just hope I don't get billed for it somehow. I do have the Sprint everything something or other plan, so it is normally included.

Great find! Thank you!
I'd downgraded back to OS .53 today because of apps incompatibility, but this may be a reason to go back to OS 5.0 - I feel so conflicted...
