Default Threaded SMS - 5.0.0.230 - 9630 Tour - 10-20-2009, 11:21 AM

I hope this is an appropriate place for this.

I like threaded SMS. Makes life a little less confusing.

However, one thing I liked about the previous ways SMS worked was the ability to go to a day and then chose "Delete Prior". I would usually do this every day once I was satisfied I didn't need anything from the previous day.

With threaded SMS, the division of dates happens with different individuals only if you have no messages from them on the current day. Once that person has conversation with you on the current day, the entire thread changes to the current date.

Any idea how to pick a point in the thread and delete everything before that?

Go into Messages and Press Alt +S. This should sort SMS messages by date as it used to.

Thank you.

A word of warning... Make sure you don't fly by the prompt asking you if you wanted to delete saved messages prior to the date you chose!!!!

Backup files are a good thing.

Great! I was looking for something like this. Wow. Excellent.

Now ALT + S is great. But how do I switch it back after pressing ALT + S?

Press the escape (back) key.

I wonder if they will, at some point, put an option to have the messages appear like they do in the previous versions?

I have come across a few people in the forums that don't like the threaded style. Having it "stick" in the format you get after Alt+S might make them happy!

Thanks! I was just wondering if this was possible the other day.

On a related note, is it possible to turn off the graphical smilies? I've never been a fan of the things.

I am not sure how phones interpret these things, but when I send a or or or :( to someone that ISN'T on BBOS 5, they get the text version of what I sent. Also, when, for example, my girlfriend sends me one of those many faces from her LG enV Touch, it comes through with a mess of characters.

So, firstly, I don't know. Secondly, people on the other end are probably getting the txt version anyway.

Thanks Joe. My girlfriend gets the emoticons in text form, so it's not really a problem for recipients. I just prefer not having the graphical emotes on my end.

But in the grand scheme of things, it isn't really a big deal ;)

Does anyone else have the problem?: I hit compose sms text and insert a name and sometimes it won't close the window until I hit the OK twice. Which adds the same name to recipients list again. I've been sending duplicate messages on occassion.
