Ok...here's my conclusion. The reason that this build won't run properly on At&t is due to a service book issue. As soon as the device boots, it reads the SIM card, obviously. Now when it reads what network the SIM is for, ie AT&T/Cingular, it injects service books for that carrier. At that point when it loads the service books, the device reboots due to some error. When the device boots again, it reads those injected service books and errors again. At that point the device is stuck in a continuous reboot loop.

Even if I could find a way to prevent the service books from being injected in the first place, the moment the network is initialized, service books will be downloaded. Thus throwing the device into another reboot loop.

I may keep messing with it, and find some solution, but as of right now...wer are just going to have to wait for another build...

Battery Life does not seem better on this build. Thats upsetting.

I wonder if it's VVM service books from ATT thats doing it.

Wow, that's pretty cool dude. U remind me of me when I was like 18 some 12 years go, lol. Glad to see someone with that much commitment and drive. Kinda giving me flashbacks actually, LOL. Anyway, I was gonna copy and paste ur conclusion over to crackberry and into their 5.0.0.348 thread so to give some of the at&t users....temporary closure until a fixed build comes out. But thought I'd ask ur permission first.

My theory was proven again...

I did a fresh install of 5.0.0.348 but removed net_rim_bb_sbinjector_lib.cod from the list. Install went fine, booted up no problems, even with At&t SIM card loaded. As soon as I connected to the network, it began to download service books, and rebooted. Now I'm back in the reboot loop again.

Well I am glad I completely spaced this out last night after work and didn't download or attempt to install on at&t ... guess I'll just wait and see on the next build.
Or wait for the 9700 to be released.

Well for now, I'm going to think about it for a while...I might come up with something radical...who knows. It may even be a simple fix

I wonder if it will self correct when the 9700 gets released by ATT which should be very soon. I suspect new SB's will have to be pushed? Is that possible?

I think there are 3rd party apps that cause it to do that. apps that have not been updated or are badly coded or what not. i don't know. Its just a theory.
I have had my bold since day two when it was released by Rogers over a year ago. With Roger's original OS (I think .226) it worked fine in Canada, but when I went to the US in Oct. 08 and on the ATT network, I got constant reboots when on 3g. Was able to get it on 2g only and reboots stopped. Subsequent OS's in 4.6 series have not been a problem when in the US on ATT.
I think it is something with the ATT's 3g network that causes the problem on some OS's. 4.6 xxx .226 worked without issues on Rogers, but had constant reboots as soon as it was on the ATT 3g network. I don't think it is an app issue.

For those on ATT who are trying to get the OS off but cannot because of reboot loop, see if you can, (during a split second of stablility) get to 2g only. It may stop the reboot loop, as it did for me last Oct 08.

I installed OS .348 yesterday. For me it's the best OS 5 version so far. No reboots.
Working great on my Bold with all my 3rd party apps.

Happy with this built.

I was gonna drive down to chicago this weekend...thanx for the heads up, lol. Fantastic post..would have never thought that the second an att signal hits the phone, it begins to reboot. However it does go somewhat with what Raptor464 concluded from his experiments as few posts back. Though i thought u'd have to have an actual att simcard for the loops to occour. maybe not. maybe its just how att's bb network is setup the phone don't like it. Guess ill have to manually choose t-mobile or something when i go down cause i ain't down with 2g yo, haha...

.314 was a hassle. the reboots were really god awful. i'm scared that vodafone and OS 5.0 are not very friendly either.

Lucky me.

It's been over 24 hrs on this OS and not even a single reboot.

Excellent speed as compared to .238 or .314.

Loving every moment of it.
