This release has changed the lock feature present in all previous versions. It is very similar to the lock feature that has been changed in the recent 8520, 8900 and 9000 releases. The lock button, located on the top left of the device, now immediately dims the screen and locks the keyboard. This lock button used to password lock the device in previous versions. The mute button, which used to lock the keyboard in previous releases, is now restricted. Also the (*) which used to password lock the device, performs the same feature as the lock button, dims the screen and locks the keyboard.

In order to password lock your device, you must now select the password lock icon.

I seem to be having trouble installing it. I installed the file, removed vendor.xml and connected my BB and ran Loader.exe.

Loader.exe loads and accepts my password and then shows me a list of all the 3rd party apps installed on my phone. The interface to upgrade the software doesn't show up at all. It seems like it's not recognising there is an upgrade available, for some reason.

Any help would be appreciated! Need to get rid of that darned caller ID problem.

Is it just me or is the font smaller on the main screen for network info? My "UMA", network/wifi info and day/date is much smaller. The main icon screen seems to be the same.

It's also quite laggy for me. Slow response on cursor movement and typing text.

Not a good first impression, so far.

Not only this but it has now rendered useless two of my keyboard lock and standby applications.

Auto Standby and addonis are paper weights right now.

Well, the laggy-ness has fixed itself--finally.

I copied the Tmo Zen theme from the .442 OS into the .536 OS and I have my bigger font back (us old guys need that!)

So far, it seems ok. Picture browsing is super fast.

Edit: Since everyone keeps asking me....Time from battery insert to main screen on reboot: 3:15

*^ This is the main reason I'm on the edge about updating our firmware ... I'd HATE for a key at the top to change what its for, while rendering another useless! What is RIM going to do if this is final reprint their own manuals?!

I would much prefer if I could disable those two keys on the top of the 9700.

@PhoenixAG you need to disable auto updates in Desktop Manager.

I am really fond of this OS. Personally I think the buttons are now working like they always should have. Fastest OS I have seen. BT volume issues seem gone (I was on .405). For whatever reason (some app) my reboot times are much longer like 7 min.

Wirelessly posted

Thank you, eLogikal.

I managed to upgrade on another XP machine. Win7 x64 seemed to be giving problems.

Ok, has anyone noticed the following problems with this rom?

1. When a call comes, the name and number shows. However, it doesn't say which number it is (mobile, work, etc)
2. Changing the call volume using the call keys during a call is weird. The volume changes but the volume bar doesn't go up or down. However, when I cut the phone, it shows the actual level for a second before disappearing.
3. The speakerphone is weird as well. Its working fine but when I press the speaker key ($), nothing happens at first but the icon changes to the speaker icon. When I press it again, the speakerphone activates but the icon shows the normal call icon, like when I use the phone by putting it to my ear.

Anyone else experiencing these? Any suggestions?

2:20 from battery insert to main screen. This firmware is the best for the 9700 thus far. Seems to preform well across the board regardless of carrier. Will be Official Rel soon.
