| Blackberry Protect in App World now! Please Login to Remove! App world link: https://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/20844
Blackberry website link: BlackBerry - BlackBerry Protect
Apparently still somewhat beta, but released. Works fine for me, loud ring is annoying, "locate your phone" locks on quickly and accurately, send message to display works fine, remote lock works, etc!
I just wish it would turn on GPS automatically, rather than having to have it already on so as to save on battery drain.

| Re: Blackberry Protect in App World now! Not BES compatible - BES does all the wireless backups, device kill, etc...but can't help you when the device is lost. It will not locate the BB or make it ring in demand. :(

It's telling that it's not compatible with BES and your device has NEVER been on a BES? You on GMAIL by chance?

| Re: Blackberry Protect in App World now! On a BES IT Policy, if you go to Common>Set Owner Info you can set emergency contact info there. For federal agencies I have worked for, this has been a tremendous help in recovery of Lost devices, and one that was stolen and found by a civilian. Also, to use this effectively, you should set your Security Timeout in Options>Security>Security Timeout. This will lock the device after a predetermined amount of time, if the device is misplaced. Hopefully That's when the person finds it, BEFORE they go through your stuff. LOL
Anyway, Food For thought.
Cheers!!

Installed without a glitch. And while I do a backup of my BB regularly, I like the option of doing a remote backup. Also the added security of tracking or wiping a lost or stolen device is great!

but he did point out the point that he knew it wasnt a gps phone, also there are some phones that don't have gps in the device but can give off a location based on Cell tower triangulation. With that being said it is never accurate but still gives you an Idea ....

| Re: Blackberry Protect in App World now! I thought you were talking about restoring data later on when you didn't have a data plan after having backed up while you still had a data plan.
I see now what you are asking, but I don't know the answer to that scenario. I would hope that since the BlackBerry is still associated with your BIS that you would be able to wipe it, track it, or activate the ringer function. However, I can suggest an experiment: Remove your SIM card and see what you can or cannot do.
EDIT: I'm not using it, or else I would experiment myself. However, the automatic remote backup feature is what I see as the most useful, and BlackBerry Protect won't work with content protection enabled. So, I'll stick with doing my own backups once a day. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile
