but, this is not what I am interested in, since I do not (and never will) use google maps.
I would like to know, if it works or not for anyone else using blackberry maps.

Just Tested Now: result as follows.

current GPS Position says 0.0.0/0.0.0: I understand that I never used GPS since las reboot due to software (batterycheck) upgrade.
I started BBMaps: after few seconds, maybe ten, maybe a little more, it gives on display "current position within 3.0 km".
The reported position is a few meters from real position.
GPS is not available, since I am indoor.
I believe that cell tower position in 3G mode is more gross, at least here in italy, than GPRS/GSM 2g reported cell position. I have no mean to justify this sensation; maybe someone more technically skilled finds a good explanation.
Hope everybody had a nice and sunny sunday.

Thank you Silverghost,
I still dont know, why this does not work for me, but, now, I am beginning to think, that there is a problem with the firmware and my wireless provider.
There are firmware versions where this works with my device, and some dont.
I have a friend who uses the same provider, and has an official release on a 9780, and cell tower location does not work.
