Default 7290 Backlight issue - 02-11-2006, 12:26 PM

OK, so on the 7290 (v. 4.0) is there a way to program the backlight to activate automatically...in other words without pressing the light button?
I know it comes on when I start dialing the phone but not when replying to text messages.
Thanks.

Yup it sure does, I am a noob when it comes to BB but that little application is nice. You can set it to activate the back light when you hit any key, remove from holster etc. Nice little program

Another new user recommending BBLight. Should have been built into the OS.

Hi, I'm a noob with 7290 switched over from SK2.

Can BBLight source code be modified so any incoming message can activate backlight? There is no customizing option for that. I'd like that as a visual indicator (out of holster).

Absolutely! It's open source and has been published on the Internet in Sourceforge.

Have at it!

In the meantime you can make the red led blink on new messages (set "repeat notification" to "led flashing" in profile)

FYI Pocketday has a set of utilities that includes the option of 'backlight on message receive". It's otherwise a great program.

Yes the Little BBlight is the best thing for the 7290. Should of been part of the OS. Wonder why they chnaged it.

I exchanged 7290 for 8700g because of BBLight. Just kidding. Cool, 8700g has a red LED blinking for new messages if LED coverage indicator is off.
