Default Delete in Outlook does not delete on BB - 03-16-2006, 12:40 PM

I have my bb set so that when I delete a message on my bb, it deletes from my desktop (outlook). How do I set it so that the opposite happens. Currently, when I delete from Outlook the message stays in my bb.

I have a 7100T and we use BES, if that helps.

open desktop mngr
plug in your pager to pc
click on intellsync
click on configure PIM
expand configure (bottom)
click on conflict resolution tab
check on handheld wins
click on OK

that should do it.

I always leave "ignore all conflicting items" checked.

Are you shift + deleting your emails or empyting the deleted items folder immediately?

You need to leave emails in the deleted items folder for them to be properly deleted on your handheld. If the items are completely deleted prior to the next wireless update the software does not reconcile the changes.

My deleted messages are being kept in the deleted mail folder for hours. Currently my Outlook setting is to empty the deleted items folder upon exiting Outlook. Throughout the course fo a day I do not manually empty the folder so that is not the problem.

An interesting fact, when I use Microsoft Outlook Web Access to access my e-mail account, messages that I delete are also deleted from my Blackberry. It appears that only when I use the Outlook desktop application that deleted messages are retained on my Blackberry.

Any new updates on this, i am in the same boat??? New 8700v handsets, connected to BES 4 and using Exchange 2003 and OUtlook 2003. Mail stuck on handset, not reconciling, either via wireless or DM software -- and they are all configured to do so.

PITA to go to each user and manually delete -- i do not have the luxury of time

The secret has to do with caching mode. If you are running with caching mode turned on, messages deleted in Outlook will not be deleted from the handheld. However if caching mode is turned off, then messages sent to the "Deleted Items" folder will be deleted from the handheld if they are there at the next reconciliation.

Turning caching mode off has other implications. Recommend you look into Outlook's help on caching mode.

Unhappy My findings - 05-10-2006, 07:49 AM

I am using Outlook 2003 and have caching turned on. What I have found is that the BB remains synchronized with my Inbox as long as I delete the msg from my Inbox and it goes to the Deleted Items folder or move the message to another folder in my mailbox. If I move a message from my Inbox to a PST, then it does not get removed from the BB. Of course, as mentioned earlier in the thread, you shouldn't empty your deleted items until the BB has reconciled. If you empty the deleted items too quickly, the message will remain on the BB. It really required me to rethink how I file messages that I want to save....

Ive got caching in outlook enabled and the email reconcilliation option for all the devices within my firm.

Reconcilliation works fine if the following is true
1) emails are not shift deleted within Outlook
2) Emails are not moved out of the inbox to a PST
3) outlook has not permanently deleted emails from the deleted box prior to sync interval.

One to note is that the wireless sync from the desktop runs on average at an interval of between 20-30 mins dependent on how many users on the BES.

you have to have the blackberry set for delete on mailbox and handheld for deleted items to sync between the Outlook mailbox and the handheld. In messages, goto options and then email reconciliation. Change the default delete on handheld only to delete on mailbox and handheld. When deleting from Outlook, the messages need to remain in the deleted items folder long enough for the sync to happen (as previously mentioned)
