Nextel Blackberry Users Before you say it, I did search!! I found so many questions and different answers with different dates that I still don't know what the answer is. I just got my first Blackberry. How do I send a text message? I don't care if it is SMS or MMS. I just want to be able to send a text. Thanks for any help. |
Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7100i/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/103) Ok well from one noob to another go to messages click the scroll wheel and hit compose mms .... That's how it is on the 7100i |
You can't do it on a 7520 |
Okay. I have a 7520. Thank you Murpheous. That is what I needed to know. It can't be done. That sucks. Now that i have a full keyboard I can't send text messages. |

you can also send messages to With teleflip you dont need to know what network the user is on. |
Okay. I remember seeing those answers. Thank you to all. But is it possible to receive text? I don't think so from what I've read. I think they have to send it to my email, right? I cannot seem to setup my BB email. |
yes, you can recieve text messages. But, most of the time you can't tell who they are from. Unless they use |
also you will not be able to reply to the text message that comes in. |
I kinda figured out a way around the text messaging on the 7520. What I did was to create a gmail account that forwards directly to my 7520. All nextel sms users can send to a phone number, or email address. My wife can send to the gmail address from her I830, and I can reply directly back to her using her nextel sms email address (what nextel didn't tell us) the sms address for nextel phones is: If anyone else wants to try it out, PIN me and I'll set up a gmail invite for you. Make sure you send me your name and email address to set it up. John |

Lots of good ideas. Maybe I should have just gotten the 7100. I like the keyboard though. |
text messaging/7520 If you are still in the 14 day return window, go get an unlocked 8700 or 7290- Kick in 10 more bucks than your paying for nextel UNL bb, and go get t-mobile UNLIMITED text messaging/ul data and 1000 voice minutes- at edge capable speed. If TMO coverage suits you-youll be lovin life. Your milage may vary... |
If T-mobile ever covers more of Iowa besides Des Moines, i would ditch 7520 for a 7290 in a minute. Cingular covers alot of Iowa, buts its BB plans is as bad as Nextel. Maybe, I will get a 515 des moines number and let t-mobile roam on cingular all the time where i live in 319 |
I know somewhere around the forums, a user has made a listing of the sms email addresses for the carriers. You can also (on some sites) go to the website of the carrier and get that address. I remember some but not all the email address. Verizon: Sprint: T Mobile: Those are the ones I remember. Hope it helps. I usually program the email address into my address book under the name of the person so I don't have to remember, I just select email the person and that's it. Works well for me, I even get pictures too. Not bad for a BB 7510 from Nextel! |
