Question "My Number" - 03-31-2006, 05:08 AM

Fantastic Forum. Answered nearly all my queries - bar this one!

Whilst in the phone how do you get it to display "My Number". Things I have tried so far (and failed):

Options: Autotext: Changing the "my number" setting from %p to the phone number. This just takes "My number" off the phone screen altogether.

Options: SIM card - But all this displays is the ID of the SIM card.

On the Blackberry Handheld Configuration tool on the BES server the telephone number is blank for all units.

Any assistance gratefully received.

Try a cold reboot:

1. Remove the battery.

2. Remove the SIM card.

3. Replace the SIM card.

4. Replace the battery.

No need to remove the Sim etc. Just go to the phone screen, click the trackwheel and select options then general options. Change 'show my number' to 'yes'.

Thanks but tried both of those to no avail. Is there a setting in the IT Policy which could be overridding the phone settings? If so, anyone know which one please?

I just checked on my Telus BB7520 under Options Sim Card and my number is listed there.
Is there a restriction on the handhelds by the carrier that has a caller id restrict or something. I noticed also that my security is disabled under the Sim card. I don't think it is required to be enabled.

The BlackBerry Handheld Configuration Tool should list all the units that have been activated on the BES, what type of unit, how much memory, what service they're on and what the unit's phone number is...

If you can’t be a good example, then you’ll just have to be a horrible warning.

Default Showing My Number - 11-10-2006, 09:39 PM

Thanks - Pyemaster's instructions worked like a charm. I didn't need to reboot either.
