Post Complete beginner - can I set up email forwarding to a Blackberry device? - 11-22-2006, 10:48 AM

Hi there.

I have not yet purchased a blackberry and am looking into the benefits of doing so. I run my own business and need to get emails on the move.

I currently have my email set up with Microsoft Outlook on my PC. The incoming mail server is a POP3 using port 110. I'd like to know if it is possible to receive email on a Blackberry device from this email account without having to leave my PC switched on and Outlook open.

If this is possible, will copies of emails sent to the Blackberry also be sent to my Outlook inbox so that I can have copies there too?

It's probably all very obvious to all you experts!

I'm based in the UK, so any advice re service providers here would also be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Bexter.

Yes you can get your email(s) on the BB... Yes it will still deliver them to the PC...

No you do not need to leave Outlook open for this to happen

Thanks Lunkhead!

How would I need to configure the blackberry and my email account so this would work?

You would need a supporting data plan with your carrier (i.e. Cingular and Blackberry Data plan). They will then setup a BIS account for you which you can then setup your various POP accounts which will be polled every 15 minutes or so.

With your BIS account. Do a search on the forum how to setup your e-mail. It is VERY easy.
