| Please Login to Remove! Folks.. i am having a strange memory leak after I uninstalled couple of apps. I had a data plan initially but couple of days back I downgraded to the email only plan. That being done, I had uninstalled BB messenger, Yahoo messenger, google maps and the VAD resources. After doing that I seeing a memory leak of more than 2MB per day. The only 3rd party apps that I currently have is Docs to go and 1 PimpMyBerry Storm theme.
WHat could have gone wrong...can anyone suggest something? I have done the battery pull quite a few times but of no avail. | | Offline

| with all this editing that seems to now be available, is there a way to force the blackberry curve to record video at a higher resolution? or is this something RIM has to do? Sorry a little off topic.... | | Offline

| With my new Bold I was having memory problems, with the device dipping down under 10M of free app memory sometimes and getting verrryyy slooowwwww. Since I'd used this guide with success on my 8110 I started removing things from the Bold. Screenshot of removed modules attached, and I removed the other factory games manually. Now I've consistently got over 40M free with gmail, google mobile app, google maps, att navigator, and viigo installed. So far no side effects from removing any of these modules, that I've been able to find.
EDIT: Some of the modules I removed didn't actually uninstall from the phone, like the sample backgrounds. This morning I upgraded to .185 and the modules were removed. Currently holding out at 55M free.

| So I just "upgraded" my 8830 to a Curve 8330 (the headset jack broke on my 8830). So I'm trying to run this memory maximizer (I have done so succesfully in the past with my 8830) but am running into a roadblock downloading the proper version of Device Manager from the VZW site -- my device has v4.3.0.127 but the VZW site, when the Curve 8330 is selected -- only offers v4.5.

| I've run the steps in this thread and can't get more than 5 megs of free memory (out of 57 total). I have an AT&T branded 8310 and I only have the basic operating system + Gmail, Google Maps, Google Chat, and TwitterBerry. Nothing else!
I removed PTT and the DocsToGo suite, but other than that it's a pretty vanilla set-up. Any ideas?

By the way, my "messages" only take up about 13 megs, according to the database size. | | Offline

| I have written a small JAVA program to remove traces of "_vendorID" from BlackBerry.alx and a DOS batch file to remove the mentioned .cod files to a different directory. It automates what JC has suggested in his thread.
I have attached a zip file which contains a .bat file named "FreeMem.bat". Just place this batch file in the "Java" folder of your OS installation. Make sure there is no folder named "RemovedModules". If it is already present, either remove it or rename it to something else. Once you have copied "FreeMem.bat" to the Java folder, just double click the file to run it. It will do it's job. Once done, you may want to remove the batch file from it's location.
Also enclosed is a JAVA file "VendorID.java". But I guess it will be useful to people who have some kind of Java IDE installed in their machines like WSAD/Eclipse/RAD. In a JAVA project, create a package "com.test" and within that package "paste" this class. Change the location of the file BlackBerry.alx if you need to and run it. | | Offline

I was wondering when someone would do something like this. Although I remember seeing something like this integrated into another application that combined various blackberry applications such as JL_Cmndr and the apploader. | | Offline

My apologies if the following has been answered earlier. I'm posting on WAP so it's possible that I may not have uncovered an answer already here.
Hello, I want to delete the "Email Setup Application" on my 8320 phone to free memory.
1) As long as I can access my service providers portal page to setup my internet mail for my blackberry do I still need this application ? I am only using BIS, no BES.
2) Does the "Email Setup Application" support any other functions on the phone ? I use BIS only, no BES.
3) If I use BES, do I need to retain the application ?
I emailed RIM at help (at) blackberry.net and I was politely told to get lost and not bother them.
This app with all the modules takes about 500KB so it would be great if it was safe to remove it.
Thanks

| help! confused about what usb to purchase scenario - my bb, world edition (don't know series#), had to be replaced because charge port was broken. verizon replaced with new bb world edition.
problem cannot download info from old to new because the charge port is broken. verizon rep lent me a cradle charger that was suppose to allow for such downloads - however the cradle requires a usb line. i have several usb's for various items - camera's and the like but i can't seem to locate the right style that would accomodate this cradle - verizon didn't have one and I've been to staples to buy one and they don't seem to have the right one either.
this particular usb needs to have a coupling that will attach to the cradle. of the usb(s) i have at least one end will fit in the cpu but not in the cradle.
ANY SUGGESTIONS

| I have a 9000 Bold and I have edited Blackberry.ALX and the other themes are not being unlocked.
I had no problem doing this on my previous BB (Curve) but for some reason removing all the VendoID references on the BOLD accomplishes nothing.
Is there anything "special" regarding the BOLD that I need to know that is done differently then with the Curve? It musty be something simple I am missing. I've tried it 3 times with no luck. | | Offline
