Hi,

I have a storm 9500 and it wont reset, I take the battery out to reboot it and all that happens is that the hour glass comes uo then a white screen with black writing comes up for 1 second and the only wrod i can read is reset.

I linked it up to my laptop to reset it through blackberry desktop but it doesnt register the device even though it is turned on.

What were you doing just before it happened? Drop it? Get it wet? Install a theme or app?

Is there any sort of error code on the screen - i.e. JVM 507 or 523, etc.?

i had another look at the phone and it has error code 302

Did you by any chance drop it on its side?

Remove the SIM and SD card and try a battery pull.

If that doesn't work do the following:

Wipe with Jl_cmdr (see the FAQ) and reload the OS (yellow sticky at the top of the 9500 section)

If it won't connect to DM, the FAQ has someting on that. You could also install BBSAK (BB Swiss Army Knife (Google it).

Before wiping, take a look at Recover a BlackBerry device from a 302 "Reload Software" error message | Brightpoint GB Blog. The solution may be as simple as reloading the software. If not, then wipe and reload.

For some reason i tried the phone this morning and it reset once i inserted the battery. looking at the screen it may of had water damage as it is snowing quite heavily where i live.

Glad it's working. But don't take liquid exposure lighly. Protect the device, and if you do expose the device to moisture, remove the battery immediately. And then see blackberryfaq.com and the article on what do do if you get your BlackBerry wet.
