Default Unlocked BB Curve 8310 not able to make/receive calls

i bought a new unlocked BB Curve 8310 (original service provider is AT&T) in US and took it to India. When i use Indian SIM card, I'll be able to make/receive calls for about 15 mins and then suddenly the device gets switched off. I cant switch it on by pressing the end-call button. Only way i can turn it on is by removing the battery - waiting for 30 seconds or more and then replacing the battery. After i do this, it works for another 10-15 mins or so and again its the same problem. I'm not sure what the problem is. I verified the mobile is actually unlocked by using MEPD method. Its detecting the Service provider and shows as EDGE near the mobile network icon on top right corner. I tried wiping the BB using JL_Cmder, installing OS from AT&T. As it didnt work, i installed BB OS from Airtel (ISP from India), still it didnt work. Am running out of options.
Please help me with this.
