I downloaded the player for youtube app on my bb 9780, and whenever I try to play a video, it starts, but a message pops up saying "make sure you have a data plan"...

Youtube works fine for me, but this player doesn't.

I use Youtube directly and the only requirement is to use WAP. It should work. Try the Blackberry browser and go directly to Youtube. dont use the App.
The BB should switch to WAP if your using the BB browser.
I also have a 9700 thats on a corporate BES and It will not work due to the IT policy restrictions.

I use direct youtube too, I just wanted to try the app because it has more results per page and better results per search.

I'm going to try to reinstall it.

The latest OS6 ( not one that is a jail break or not released.) upgrade may help. A lot of people are reporting the various upgrades do have issues but the latest is best.
