I have a BB torch 9800, when I try to delete picture , previously e-mailed ,it tells me cannot delete, the file is in use?

any idea how to delete the picture

You probably still have the media picture view open?
Press the BlackBerry Menu key about two seconds and see what applications are open, if the picture or media viewer is open, close it.

Ok ..good thoughts yes the Picture media is open, how do I close it???

mmm..your suggestion is confusing.

If I close it, I have to re-open it in order to delete the picture.

Every time I select the picture (s) and I press delete it says - "cannot delete file is being use"

I tried cold reboot, nothing works also, I also had the same issue on another torch9800, I changed recently...I think this is a MAjor OS bug

Someone else mentioned they have the same problem...but the fix is strange..here is his suggestion

Sam I had the same problem and found the perfect fix. ReName ur pic something simple. Then take a pic of the floor, save it naming it the same as the pic ur tryg to get rid of. Will ask u to replace with current pic, say yes. The old pic is gone and now u should be able to delete the pic u replaced it with! Yea!

I am not even able to rename...it tells me "File being used"

then you have not closed the picture application.

Close it.

Then, go to the Media icon > press the Menu key > Explore.
Navigate the folder in which the picture is located, and DO NOT open it, just scroll to it, press the Menu key > Delete.

If you still get message that it is open and can't be deleted, remove your battery for a minute and replace and try again, WITHOUT opening the picture.

It is very strange..

first of all the picture are stored under the camera folder instead of Pictures on my media card...

but more strangely, when using explorer I cannot find this pictures??? as if they are virtually stored ...in processor memory...

observation: What happened are the pictures being associated to a background process, when they were e-mailed , or what else happened?

Uh... had you JUST taken the pictures and they WERE in the process of being emailed/uploaded at the time? Yea, that would hinder the deletion.

No the strange part is that these pictured were e-mailed last night and some last week the process of e-mail was completed....

that is where I am curious where the problem accured, because this happens to me quit often
