Default Trackpad Fix

Please Login to Remove!

hey guys, i had a problem with my trackpad on my 8530.

i rebuilt my phone because i was also having a screen problem.

when i turned it back on the trackpad worked for a little while but then all i could do was click ok again, no directions were working. so i checked a few things out, and with some help of my camera i was able to discover the problem, after putting two trackpads in. lol

this is the connector for the trackpad, sorry i didnt have my usual flash with me and over killed it. i tried to fix it a lil in photoshop.

oh hahaha, cleaned it down with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab, then put a touch of dielectric grease on the connector, just the tiniest amount and plugged it back in. seems good so far

It would appear to be moisture got in the connection and corroded, but I can't be sure.

If you use the trackpad with a wet finger or maybe bring it into a steamy bathroom during a shower you could be inviting moisture and that will cause corrosion.

Not sure what kind of a reply you were looking for. You didn't ask a question....

its not a question, its a fix! the corrosion was caused when my phone got submerged in windex. they dont like windex. i was drunk. lol

so when i replaced a bunch of damaged components, this was what i discovered, my track pad i replaced was ok, and is in the phone now, and the two extras i have are also ok. lol

You were very luck and your methods would not be something most experience people would suggest. That may be why you received no replies.

what was wrong with my method? i cleaned the corrosion on the terminals after trying to replace what i thought were bad components. when i finished replacing them and the problem was still present i then investigated the problem farther to discover the corrosion, so while the phone was powered off i used 99% rubbing alcohol. it nearly completely evaporates away just by blowing on it. where is luck involved? if you ask me im unlucky because i took the phone apart 3 times for nothing when i could have cleaned it from the start, and not bought another phone for parts, and another track pad because i thought the two i had were bad. i would say im skilled with bad luck.

ok so if a trackpad doesnt work, an 'experienced people' would figure it out... how?
by trying to do a mind meld with it? petting it till it worked? trust me i tried tickling the trackpad for hours and got nowhere! replacement seemed necessary, and i needed a new screen anyhow. then when my used phones trackpad didnt work either and i bought another trackpad alone, brand new and it didnt work! its times to investigate, not call a psychic or the ghost busters. no amount of whiskey you drink is going to fix the phone. i tried that too.

lucky that the phone didnt totally die when it got bathed in windex? ok, but as for the experienced person. i dunno. i think i guessed that road pretty good.
