| | Does AIM uses Text or Data?

Hello guys! I'm new to this forum and I've recently obtained a blackberry bold 9780 from T-Mobile. As of currently I have unlimited text and 200 MB limited web. I was wondering if AIM uses Text or Data. The AIM I got came with it and it was in the Instant Messaging folder along with Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and Google Talk. I got mixed answers that the one that is built in with the blackberry uses text (SMS) and the one from AOL is data. I'm pretty afraid if AIM is data since mine's limited (I also use FB, youtube and etc so 200 MB would go quick but I would want to avoid data).
If TL;DR , does AIM uses Text or Data in T-Mobile Blackberry bold 9780 carrier? AIM is already built in.
PS : How do you check if it's built in in case?
