I've had my BB Curve 8310 for a little over a year and it has given excellent service. About four weeks ago it abruptly stopped doing email and internet, although other functions (phone, text messaging, applications) work okay. It no longer displays EDGE, only edge.
I've spent several hours in consultation with my service provider -- both via phone and in person -- to no avail. Even have a new SIM card. I've been through numerous hard resets and "Host Routing Table/Register Now" attempts, to no avail. Upon my request, a consultant at the service provider's shop tried temporarily inserting the SIM card into a pristine unit and informed me that it immediately connected and provided browser services.
This suggests a fault with my own unit itself. If this is the case, its timing is perversely incredible, happening exactly seven days after expiration of warranty. While I have handset insurance, the deductible makes replacement at this time prohibitive.
I pondered whether there might be a software-related hiccup and I have performed a memory wipe, with no beneficial result.
This is sort of the last gasp of a desperate consumer. Are there any other expedients I might try before abandoning and reverting to my aged Nokia?
