Default Email not synching over GPRS

Hi,

I am setting up some devices for users in my office and I have a problem with one device.

I have set it up with a user using the Web Desktop Manager and while connected via USB it works well.

The trouble is when it is disconnected from the USB lead mail does not sync.

I have tried resending the service books and everything else I can think of (which is not much, I am new to Blackberries) but nothing works. When I try to go into the email account settings inside the mail area options it just sits there with a message saying "Connecting to email settings" and then eventually times out.

Can anyone help?

does this BB have a blackberry Data plan? did you select the default email service?

Hi tsac,

I am not sure if I understand you correctly so if I give you some more information this may inadvertantly answer your question.

The device should connect to a BlackBerry Express server in our office, the server is working with 2 other devices with out any issue.

As far as I know we do have a data plan to cover all the phones.

I set up the phone by on the server I created the new user, I then went in to the Web desktop Manager on the server and logged in as the new user.

Next I connected the device and it was picked up and said it was loading services and all the email and everything came across, this still happens if I open this again and connect the device.

The problem is it does not do this when not physically connected to the Server, internet works okay so there are some GPRS services working.

Ok so you have the server and it does see the BB. I would check the options on the DM to insure it is not optioned for wired synchronization only. Your server should still forward the emails to the carrier for sending to the BB so the next thing to check is if it actually is. It seems your server is able to connect to the carriers servers for forwarding so it may simply be the carrier did not configure that individual BB on their system. A call to the carrier may help.

Thanks for your help, it turned out the device had not been set up on the account to receive data.
