Default Unable to Receive International Text Messages

Please Login to Remove!

I have an unlocked 8900 Curve from Rogers and I am now on prepaid with Optus (Australia). I can send and receive local SMS messages and I can send international texts with no problems, but when someone from Canada sends me a message I cannot recieve it. The same person can successfully send other Aussie numbers text messages with no problems (not user error) and I've tested with several other Canadian phones/providers.

It seems like the Rogers software is still on the phone, but it is definitely unlocked and working on the optus network (no data though - prepaid).

Any ideas what the cause and fix of this issue might be?

Thanks!

I'm just spitballing here, but the fact that you have no BB data plan might be partly to blame. Yeah, I know SMS messages come in over the phone plan, and you can get domestic texts. But I'm thinking that international texts might not be included in a pre-paid plan. Call Optus and ask them specifically about international texts on a pre-paid plan.

Optus does have a few international pre-paid plans that include text messages. The service plan you have may not allow full service. I would call Optus and check your plan or go to their web site for details. The BB os should not be a issue if the phone is unlocked but you do realize the full features of a BB cannot be used without a Blackberry Data plan.
